Another update here on the west coast. I heard from CIC Vancouver today and will have my landing interview on June 27... On a side note, June 27 is also Canadian Multiculturalism Day - rather appropriate I think :D

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

@sgnv: The intention was never to not get one, but to hold off until I need one. Once I have a job offer, I will make the trek to Service Canada and do the application. It was simply a case that if my PR landing interview happened before I got a permanent job, I would only have to go to SC...

@Black-berry: Sounds like a plan... I spoke with my lawyer this week to find out if he had any ideas why we hadn't received any updates from immigration since the AIP and OWP. He said that in all likelihood, it is the background checks that they are doing (not police certificates) that is...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Got my OWP in my grubby little paws today :D Still no bites on the job front either, but hopefully with everyone back this week things will start moving. My lawyer recommended that I wait with my SIN as long as possible, in case I get a quick interview date, that way I only do it once...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Spoke with my lawyer yesterday, and due to the speed at which Vancouver work, I will probably only get my landing interview within the next 30-45 days.. Just in time for my birthday hopefully.. Happy New Year to everyone and hope that 2011 brings happy news for all!

Devin - hope that you get something soon. I have started applying for jobs this week - but seems all is very quiet still on the western front. Most people are only back next week. Good luck with your search and all.

@boasorte: I called the help line and asked them specifically. I had to prove it was me, but other than that it was straight forward. After hearing how other people's medicals were "misplaced" I thought it prudent to check on mine.

I'm loving the cooking again, after 8 years on cruise ships, it has been fantastic to get my hands dirty in the kitchen. I have especially taken to baking, xmas and thanksgiving are the best times to do it. I wish I had the drive to go to gym every day. Had been doing a lot of cycling in...

@Devin: I am hoping for my first White Christmas, though in Vancouver that is a long shot, we will have to see... I'm always trying to explain to my friends here what a South African christmas is like, but they just don't get the braai and poolside concept :D 12 Days to go till my...

@ Devin: I know what you mean about the police clearance. I sent my request in for the certificate in December last year and included the return envelope for fedex. In April I had still not heard anything so contacted them - they had "lost" the return envelope and the certificate had been...
