Hi, my parents need to renew their PR cards. They expires in Jan,06,2019. Since the landed in Nov.04,2013, they have been in Canada 645 days. When will the be eligible to apply for renewal?

I sponsored my parents in 2007 and they landed in 2013. They both are over 65. Can they apply for old age pension plan or any financial social assistance? They don't have any income here.

Hi Sylvain, as you mentioned, security checks with immigrants from countries such as Iran take very long to complete. I was wondering if the same regulations apply to people claiming refugee status from such countries? How come people who claim refugee status are given their P.R so quickly? Thanks
