I'd suggest mid day, no rush hour. And yes, you do have to drive across the bridge but the US won't let you in (unless you're a citizen, but you can still ask to be turned back) so there's a place you can turn around and go back.
When I landed 4 years ago last month, I remember that folks said go to Peace Bridge or Queenston/Lewiston Bridge because they're crabby at the Rainbow Bridge. Can confirm this is still the case. I went with someone to do her flagpoling today and we tried first at the Rainbow Bridge and even...
If you read the book, you'd have to try hard to fail it. I spent a few days reading and testing myself. It is not hard and I was kind of annoyed that I studied as hard as I did. Got 20/20.

Did mine at Ft. Erie (Peace Bridge) on a Wednesday, I think. They will do them M-Th no problem. Super easy, told the US side what I wanted and they sent me back to the Canadian side. Canadian officer asked for a refusal slip, but I explained I didn't have once since I am a U.S. citizen...
Thank you to everyone on this board who provided advice and support during this journey. I landed two days ago at the Peace Bridge (smooth as could be - go Monday through Thursday!) and wanted to share how I passed the medical exam with a chronic condition which could trigger the excessive...
