I went with the same idea, it back fired. You spend more time actually in the queue due to inquiries that they will generate because of Nikah only case. I would strongly advise to get the Rukhsati done, and then apply for the case. Good Luck

Based on my recent experience "Nikah Only" case is a BIG No ! Long story short ... they don't consider "Nikah Only" as legal marriage, and start inquiring for details. At the end you end up spending more time and money for the completion of your case, and not to mention unnecessary frustration...

Pre-arrival letter usually comes before the final decision and after they start checking your background. Once the back ground check is done, they send you the PPR and your ECAS status changes to "Decision Made".

Mine is Nikah only case, which makes them stand up on their seats and put all their resources to investigate possible fraud. On a serious note, they don’t consider Nikah as genuine marriage, because they are aware that husband and wife does not cohabit after Nikah, until Rukhsati is done...

My wife had interview on Dec 05, and I have the same status as yours ... only pre arrival service letter.

Salam, My wife received a letter from CIC with the subject of "Invitation to Pre-arrival services" on Dec, 09. This letter states that you are now able to receive pre-arrival services funded by Govt. of Canada, with the list of available resources. This is very good initiative from GC...

That's what shows in My Account, under the application status. Background check: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.

My wife had her interview on -5-Dec. On 08-Dec, status on gckey account changed to "You have completed your interview". Hope that helps.

Updates : Interview conducted on 5th Dec. 15 minute interview, Officer was really nice, told my wife that he is satisfied with the application, and will put it through background check. Application status changed today as follows. Interview You have completed your interview. Background...

Hi, As you stated, based on your case there are good chances that you will be call for interview. If that happens, then best thing is to appear for interview with your wife.

@MM345 ... If they conduct background check after eligibility, then how do you explain VO taking passport right after interview for many cases, to issue visa ?
