Problem with Proof of Citizenship application.

Wow. Would it help at all to call from inside Canada? We're visiting friends in Ontario in September.

Problem with Proof of Citizenship application.

I still can't wrap my mind around that. How many times have you inquired about your status? Is there nothing else you can do?

Problem with Proof of Citizenship application.

I've used the IRCC Web form to ask about her status, not expecting a response, but they did respond. They wouldn't give me any personal info because I'm not officially her agent yet, but they did acknowledge that they have a file for her. I *think* that means they've begun to process her...

Problem with Proof of Citizenship application.

I've run out of things to try. I'm still wandering through the CIC website looking for a way to inquire but so far can't come up with anything. My application for a proof of citizenship certificate was approved a few months ago. After mine was accepted, my sister applied. She sent it registered...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

I have questions that I'll ask here first. I don't think it warrants starting a new thread, and it might have bearing on Usmaziz's question. 1. My certificate never arrived. I asked about it through the online form and was told it had indeed been mailed more than six weeks ago, and was invited...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

I have not yet received my certificate. I kept on checking the web page for status, until a few weeks ago it began telling me that it did not recognize me. I kept trying for a week or so and finally got worried enough to send a question through the online form. Four days ago I got a response...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

If you mean the web page at the IRCC website: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-status.html Then yeah, that's how I found out. I've hunted all over my spam filters and trash and can't find an email from them anywhere. I think it's odd because...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

Yes, and I couldn't believe it at the time. I'm sorry your process is taking so long. I'm assuming it will take something like a month for the certificate to finally get here since Josh's story is that they don't really mail it till a few weeks later. I expect it sometime around St Patrick's Day.

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

I made it. If you were born after 1977, expect the whole thing to take about six months. I was hoping to get the commemorative 150 years certificate, but I'll take what I can get. I can't believe how relieved this makes me feel. We received your application for a citizenship certificate...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

Thanks am04, that time it worked. I used my cell phone instead of the land line. I think AT&T might be a little different. But that only got me as far as the automated status checker and this time I got stopped because my application number does not start with the right letters. This makes me...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

Did you put a space between the 7 and the 1 somehow or was it just one long string?

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

I just tried it and got shut down. After I pressed the final "1" I got a recording: "We're sorry, the toll free number you have dialed is not available in your area. SCT 11." That message repeated twice and then cut off. Either they've closed an exploitable error or our phone gives away too...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

I agree that according to that sheet I'd be 3(1)(g) and referred to program support, but I think you and Josh also meet those requirements. The only differences I can see in mine is my mother's heritage and this is my second application. I can't believe they'd treat it differently just because...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

I'm wondering. The current pattern is, it arrived in July, it was acknowledged in August, and process was begun in September. I'm thinking I should probably sit tight till October. I'm picturing some guy staring at it and somebody else saying "Leave that one alone till next month!"

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

The web tool says my status has changed from "Application Received" to "In Process." I've been checking every day. Some days four or five times. Last check yesterday was 9PM Central Standard US and it still said "Application Received." The timeline details on the site are: We received your...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

Congratulations Josh. :) And today I got my notice of receipt and Application Number. This time it worked. So my complete timeline so far is June 1: First application mailed in Wisconsin June 12: Delivery accepted. July 10: Application returned with explanation.of errors; 28 days, 21 working...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

Josh, and Andrew, what was the name in the email address that sent you the notices? Not the whole email, just the part before the first dot. I'd like to create a filter to catch it. I'm worried that it might get caught in the spam filters. Also, does anyone know how they notify you if your...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

My application was delivered June 12, sent back to me for rework and didn't arrive till July 10. That's 24 business days from their arrival to mine. Even assuming it took them a week to process it, that's a long time in the mail. I'd give it a few more days before flipping the panic switch.

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

So, we're about ready to send in our next attempt. If anyone's interested, here's my timeline so far: June 1: Mailed in Wisconsin, USPS June 12: Delivery accepted. July 10: Application returned, initialed, with errors listed and questions highlighted, stapled together with a two page...

Obtaining Certificate of Citizenship (by descent)

Thank you both very much. That was the sort of info we needed. Alpha, I understand the grandparent info for my father is not needed but will there be any penalty if I include it anyway since I already have it and would feel incomplete if I didn't put it in?
