    Land Border Entry

Congrats! You've been at this a long time. You must be so happy (and relieved) that it's finally over.

Yes, you definitely want to have some photos.

Relationship proof if married for 2+ years?

Really? We didn't send in that many - maybe a dozen wedding and holiday family photos at the most. They didn't ask us for more.

    US/Canada Joint Bank Account?

Your ScotiaBank was a lot more accommodating than mine. They told me flat out no I couldn't add my American husband to my account until he was a resident of Canada. Luckily, despite not having joint anything in the way of a bank account or household bills, it didn't matter in the end. I guess...

    American PA - Landing Process

We live in a border city. When my husband landed, he just went to the border station with his CoPR, didn't even bother driving across the bridge to the US.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

We got my husband's CoPR a week after mailing the info to Ottawa. It was pretty quick.

**MISSISSAUGA PROCESSING** - Outland Spousal Applicants

I don't know if it's still the same now so take this with a grain of salt, but back when we were going through the final decision usually came at the beginning of the month, on a Friday. That's how I remember it for a lot of folks, including us. No idea what they are doing currently because I...

**MISSISSAUGA PROCESSING** - Outland Spousal Applicants

Nah. We got one somewhere in the middle of the process, the same time they sent the request for the remainder of the PR fee. We didn't get DM for a few weeks after that.

Eligibility is based on a lot of things, but I would think the background check would kind of be mixed in with it. Obviously, if someone fails the background check, they wouldn't be eligible for permanent residency. I've wondered if that might be a reason why they wait until the very end to...

Tax Questions (US/CA)- Do I need to file?

From the CRA website: Non-residents of Canada are not required to file a Canadian tax return if their only income from Canada is from certain types of passive income, such as dividends, and pension income. In such cases, tax is withheld at source by the payer when the amount is paid to the...

    DM/Copr??

No one can say for sure when you will get DM. The background check could be really quick or it could take a while. You might be asked to provide documentation for something. There is no set time. Everyone's case is different. You just have to be patient.

**MISSISSAUGA PROCESSING** - Outland Spousal Applicants

When they update Final Decision to approved in the GCKey it usually means the CoPR has been sent and you should get it in the mail very soon. We didn't get any messages at the end. There's really no reason why you should either if everything is in order, and obviously it is or you wouldn't have...

**MISSISSAUGA PROCESSING** - Outland Spousal Applicants

Don't assume anything. They do stuff when they do it and we have no control over that. I don't understand why you're getting antsy. You just got sponsor approval. Things seem to be moving along okay. Relax and live your life. You'll be less anxious if you don't think about it too much.

My husband had a dismissed DUI (from like thirty years ago!) and had to submit documentation for that, as well as two state PCCs, and he still went through in just under six months. But he was processed through Ottawa. I think one of the reasons your app is taking so long might be that you got...

    US applicant - Passport request

We only sent the photo page and they were fine with that. GCKey won't update until they send the CoPR. It took one week for us from time of mailing to receiving the CoPR.
