I understand they have to leave, but many do not want to leave so what if they just go into hiding? Does the government track them down and remove them? Or they will just stay illegally forever not paying taxes etc... just so wrong on so many levels...

Applications like this are waste of taxpayer money... irresponsible... going through the process twice as one cannot wait an extra month just to be sure... then calling your MP because you made a mistake... wow... really sad.

These new rules are probably the result of PR card holders keep entering Canada without meeting their RO... it is always a problem that some "bad apples" create a problem and then the rules change for everyone...

The most important thing is honesty and transparency. If you have nothing to hide then your case will be fine. Applications take long time to process when applicants do not have the required information in a clear and transparent way (e.g. missing documents, foggy stories etc.)

You will know which office only when you receive an invitation to write the citizenship test or other official correspondence. That will show which office is handling your case.

Freedom of movement is not the same as leaving the country, not paying taxes and then returning to use the healthcare system... citizenship of convenience should be blocked... if you don't pay into the healthcare system, you should not be eligible to use it
