Yes, but don't think it made a difference. It was a month ago and i received a generic reply. The duration is quite consistent with their processing time of 170odd days. I mean for most applications.

You can work until your PGWP expires. But you could use the TRV for future visits to Canada as a visitor. I am assuming this TRV is issued way beyond your PGWP's expiry date.
