You can flagpole to US side. Which means you don't visa or anything. You cross the border and tell the guard on the US side that you are flag poling. They will give a piece of paper, take that back to Canadian side and finish your landing.

Not really. You don't have to "renew" your PR. It is based on minimum number of days you stay in Canada. I think right now it is 2 out of 4 or 5 years. As long as you meet that criteria your PR will be valid.

No cpc Ottawa is sitting on our passports. Not sure what are they doing with our passports. In these many days I could have driven to Ottawa and gotten my passport back.

You need to cut down those pics. I sent them after cutting the pics. Walgreens also refused to cut it down for me because they don't have right sized cutter. I am not sure if cpc Ottawa will accept the pictures.

This one looks like for the CSE. I had raised a CSE long time back for my case and got a response similar to this. I dont think receipt of the passport gets any ack from CIC. YMMV
