Well that's cool if that's the case. Didn't mean to spread misinformation, if I did. I think I was told to get a new one around a year ago, which they also told me had expired 6 months later but they granted me an extension. Haven't heard much about the new changes.

Unless something has changed, that is also not true. I got an FBI report well after I came to Canada and stayed here the entire time and it still expired after 6 months. Maybe they just really wanted me to get another one, but that is not the information IRCC gave me.

Well good news. I guess they're getting around to all the 1+ year old criminal rehab applications. Finally got approved. Was notified by both the criminal rehab people as well as the PR people since that was the only thing they were waiting on. Good luck to you all.

To expand on that, you can extend your stay as a visitor. You don't have to actually go back and spend 6 months in the States and then come back. I've extended mine a few times while we were getting the application in order and then waiting and all that.
