A slightly different question - are the passport request letters (almost) always indicative of a successful outcome?

Hi Kunal, From what I can see on this post - there is quite a range. My medical approval took just days - probably within the same week. Same with background check completion - but i havent heard much since.

are the visa request letters (almost) always a positive thing? Or Could they request it even when rejecting an application ?

Also any insights into when app statuses are available via ECAS or does that not apply for express entry applications.

Maged... how does one determine whether or not they are in a security screening? My background check has been stuck in "does not apply" or something to that effect for ages. Im getting my notes soon - will it be indicated on there?

AOR Jan - still waiting as well. RE: extended medicals when was yours set to expire? Did they extend it for another 12 months?

How long are the PR visas valid for ? I ask cause I want to know how long notice I can give my employer? Do I have to land in Canada in less than 3 months or less :o (after issue of visa)

Friends, I keep getting "your application has been updated" emails from cic but when I go in there to check for a nomination (?) there is nothing new / no messages , no updated nothing new whatsoever- is this common ? any advice
