Depends on the VO, some people receive their PPR even after 2-3 weeks of their medical and some are waiting even for 2-3 months.- Unsung

I think you should renew it. You never know how much time CIC would take to send you PPR. By the time you receive PPR you may left with less time in regards to your passport validity.- Unsung

You can still work, no need to worry while your BOWP is in progress. If you applied your PR application and your work permit expires or BOWP is in progress, you will go under implied status.- Unsung

Yea might be the case, i received my file number from Ottawa though so maybe Sydney did whatever they had to in first 2 months and then passed my file onto Ottawa.- Unsung
