My husbands medicals were extended just over a year :)
We applied beginning of April 2016 knowing that his expired mid April 2016 (he did them in 2015) but they extended them until May 31, 2017.
I seen the date on his CoPR :)
I don't know that they have a method to be honest lol.
My husbands medical expired in April 2016, they extended it... his CoPR was issued June 20, 2016 and the expiry on the CoPR is May 31, 2017.
So his CoPR expires the same day his extended medical does.
Me and my husband drove down to the Carway border to do his landing today... Went very well and very quick. US side took about 5 mins, and the Canadian side took about 30 (there was a family ahead of us).
Best of luck to everyone still waiting, I hope it goes quickly and smoothly!
We got decision made on June 17 and still haven't received the paperwork. I did call CIC Thursday last week and they told me it was approved and it was the CoPR that we're waiting for.
My husband is in Canada as a visitor, and his application was processed in Ottawa. Not sure why it's taking...
The bold red above is for visa exempt. Everyone now requires and eTA to enter Canada. Well, actually US citizens don't, but it's likely a generic email that they send to everyone.

My husband got decision made on July 18... A Saturday. We had submitted a visitor extension which was also approved on July 25...A Saturday. Both on a Saturday... I thought that was interesting.
Anyhow, to date we haven't received any communication from CIC about the decision on the PR...
If you're referring to the bold line above where it states medical results have been received, that is not a request for medicals to be redone. It is simply them updating that they have attached the results to the file.
I'm going to say no. I sponsored my husband in April (he's here as a visitor), then we applied to extend his stay in May... We got a decision made a week ago on the PR application, and approved for his visitor extension this past weekend.
