    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

<Frodo It's done GIF> Just completed my citizenship ceremony. Tremendously relieved that I will (hopefully) never have to deal with IRCC ever again. Good luck to everyone still waiting, let me know if there's a class action lawsuit.

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

I live in Ottawa, but my oath invitation confirms that my office was switched to Niagara Falls (like many others). Can't say I'm surprised, Ottawa is a city of unbelievably lazy and entitled government workers. The city where productivity comes to die.

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

There's no real way to know, but don't expect anything more than a confirmation that your application is still in progress.

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

Not only that, but I had requested urgent processing from the start for employment reasons. They never acknowledged the urgent processing request, despite multiple follow-ups from myself and my MP's office. IRCC is a disgrace and should be forced to pay compensation for the loss of earnings I...

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

I finally received an oath invite for October 19th today. Could someone update the spreadsheet as follows: Decision made December 7th 2021 Oath letter date September 27th 2022 Oath date October 19th 2022 Office is now Ottawa, not Toronto (I moved!) Honestly, I'm not even happy or excited...

    Ottawa Applications

No. It's pointless. "Tradition" is meaningless. It isn't "historic". Causing unnecessary delay is not "respect". Does anyone here feel respected by this de-humanizing farce? Both the citizenship test and the oath are completely pointless and should be scrapped. Being forced to pledge allegiance...

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

Everything except for citizenship ceremony changed to "Completed" for me on the new status page on December 7, I'm assuming this corresponds to "decision made" on the spreadsheet? If so, could someone update? Thanks! Edit: Old status page now shows decision made (but with no date), so I assume...

Note for spreadsheet managers: Passed my test yesterday, Oct 24 (20/20 )

    March 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

Can't believe I'm finally saying this, but 19 months after submitting my application with a request for "urgent processing", I've finally received an invitation to complete a completely pointless Buzzfeed quiz about Canada. Can someone update the spreadsheet to say I received my test invite on...

    Address change not working

Mine did update eventually without me having called them. I don't know if it was the address change form or the web contact form which achieved it. Took over two months. I'm so angry at IRCC's incompetence. I'm still waiting for a test invitation. 18 months.

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

I expect you're right, but it's still an extremely stupid problem which should not exist.

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

Neither of these things _should_ be a risk though. It doesn't matter one bit if you're 2 days over the requirement or 2000 days, you meet the requirement. Likewise, moving house shouldn't delay the application by more than the two minutes required to update an address. It's just a shameful...

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

Thanks for explaining this. What a pathetic state of affairs. What's the point of developing a fancy new online system to provide status information if it can't even provide accurate information? The federal civil service is spectacularly mismanaged, and is in desperate need of reform.

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

This is 100% my situation. The incompetence of IRCC is simply astonishing.

Should we complain about the delays in Online Citizenship Process?

I do need the citizenship for a job. I also want to vote in the upcoming election, and I don't think my democratic rights should be withheld from me simply because IRCC are incompetent.

Should we complain about the delays in Online Citizenship Process?

I'm astonished by all the people saying "stop complaining because others have been waiting longer". We should ALL expect a good level of service, and currently NONE of us are. If the system was running well, then most cases would be processed within 2-3 months at the most, so whether you've been...

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

My MP's office contacted IRCC, who confirmed that the application is "in progress and awaiting citizenship test", this is news to me, because the online service for checking the status shows "language skills", "physical presence", and "prohibitions" all still "In progress". My assumption is that...

Has anyone received help from their MP in getting IRCC to do their jobs?

Astonishingly, I got a prompt reply from the office of my new MP, and they're actually going to try and help. I actually can't believe it. It might not make any difference, but at least they're trying. My new MP is Mona Fortier (MP for Vanier), and I'm genuinely impressed that someone from her...
