    December 2020- Citizenship Applicants

I got an email from IRCC on June 22 saying thank you for submitting your application. Your application was created in our system on March 11, 2021 and is currently in progress, and providing a link to the Citizenship Application Tracker. When I click on the link though, I keep getting error...

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

Hi Raj, thanks for the comprehensive information. Can you share where the interpretation that country of origin isn't the same as country of citizenship is from? I've tried searching for the definition of "country of origin" in the citizenship application context and haven't been able to find...

illegal in the USA wants to move anywhere in Canada, please help!

I can't really give you any specific advice but your post made me sad for you. Can't you try to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry? That might be easier than trying to move to Canada on a visit visa and trying to find a job. Do you have enough points? You can check here...

Soft landing now and later with a cat

The cat would be affronted by being considered property, I'm sure. My cat always thought he was human and that I was there to serve him. :D

Job needed 20+ years in restaurant management

So that guy basically wanted to be told that he could just waltz into Canada and become a citizen because he's an American and became disappointed and gave up when he found out he actually had to do what everyone else does and put in some effort to do so -- accompanied by the obligatory whining...

No it certainly is not. Half the population of Toronto walks around in sweatpants. Ugh. o_O

    Vancouver empty home tax

I think we differ in our definition of "cashing out." I, and presumably Gordon, don't see ending up with an even bigger mortgage, as cashing out. It's not yours... you ultimately have to pay it back. Whereas if you sold your home or stocks or poodle or whatever, the cash is yours.

Reverse mortgages and HELOCs still have to be paid back.

    My settlement experience

I don't agree with the first part of this. The basis of Canada's immigration policy is to attract highly skilled and educated people into its workforce. The implication is that there are jobs available that will be able to utilize the skills and experience that immigrants bring. The problem is...

    My settlement experience

I didn't say they're not insecure, I said they ARE. A lot of Canadians go out of their way to make sure they're recognized as Canadians, not Americans, and to point how how different they are. Not saying that in itself is a bad thing. But requiring local experience in a country that's probably...

    My settlement experience

I find this whole local experience thing ridiculous. I mean, come on, Canada is the most generic western country in the world. Not like it's China or Burkino Faso or something. They're just insecure about being in the U.S.'s shadow want to act like they're unique and different. Canadian...

Yes, they told me that too. Which is BS because people have been able to do it.

Sometimes, for no obvious reason, it's not possible to link. I tried various combinations of my information to link them and I couldn't.

Try calling first thing in the morning (8 am). The wait time might be shorter. I did that yesterday and it was less than 30 minutes, which is still long but not as bad as 50 minutes.

8882422100, 2, 3, 4, 0. Don't trust what it tells you about the wait time to speak with an agent. Mine went from 27 minutes to 1 minute (after about 10 minutes) to 1 minute again to 7 minutes to 1 minute lol. They asked for my UCI number, and confirmed my personal details before checking on the...

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

I called this morning and was told that they sent out the card yesterday. So relieved to not have to change my travel plans! Still a mystery why I could never see my application status or link it to myCIC but anyway, at least it hadn't vanished into thin air! Thanks again for your help!

Thank you. Still no dice. My COPR doesn't actually list a place of birth... it's blank. I thought maybe that was the problem and typed in the country of birth there and also for country of birth and still nothing. I also tried with my town of birth from my passport. I'm supposed to go to the US...
