    US outland applicants' thread :)

You're right, they all start at Mississauga and once you get SA it is transferred to another office. Lots of US applications go through Ottawa which seems to be going very very fast in the past couple of months.

Turns out the answer is ... one week??? We got our decision made last night at 12:15 am! I got a notification email from MyCIC to check our application and it says we passed background checks and the application has been approved!! So thankful that Ottawa is processing US applications so so fast!

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Does anyone have a sense of how long it takes once your background check is in process? We got SA on July 27, did medical upfront, paid upfront, and there shouldn't be a passport issue (I'm sponsoring my American husband who isn't changing his name or passport). The myCIC thing says it's been in...

MAY 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

And already I have a question... Does anyone know how the passport request stage works? Does it matter what country the applicant is in when they send it? How long does it take? Can CIC return it to any address or only the address listed?

MAY 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

I phoned CIC this morning who confirmed they did send the SA email July 27 and that my email blocked it (was out of space). Mississauga is going to resend the email asap. They told me over the phone that our application was transferred to Ottawa! I'm hoping that this means the next few steps go...

MAY 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

I'm a May 18th applicant and (finally) the Applicant's side has been updated to say "in process" as well. I've been having email issues (inbox full) so I'm worried I missed the SA email. Should I call to ask them to resend? I'm worried I've called CIC too many times.

Applying April 2016 - Sponsor Unemployed Now BUT Summer Job Starting May 2016

I'm sponsoring my American husband. I'm currently a law student and have a job secured May 2 to August 17. I start school again September 6. We hope to submit our application by April 15....should I list myself as unemployed on IMM 5481? My concern is, but the time they get around to reading our...

Sponsorship Evaluation (IMM 5481) - Question about 12 month net income.

What should I say: I'm a law student most of the year, but work in the summer (at the Ministry of the Attorney General as a summer law student). I'm sponsoring my American spouse who supports himself on a family trust. I do not have any debt as I'm supported by my parents as well.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Just want to say thank you for this advice. My husband came across the border today at Pearson. They sent him to secondary screening after they saw that he left on Thursday and was returning today (Monday) and that his work permit expired Sunday (Mar 27). At secondary screening once he said that...

Here is my situation: I am about to submit to sponsor my American husband. He is unemployed and lives on significant investments/savings. I'm a law student, so only employed in the summer months, but without debt thanks to family loans. How should I explain my situation on "IMM 5481...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Thank you so much for this advice! Just want to clarify - can you pay the application fees at anytime? Do you actually think printing out our in-progress PR forms would help? Also, in regards to ties to the US would a return ticket to Boston and significant US investments help?

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Hi everyone, I'm Canadian about to sponsor my American husband via outland. He is currently in Canada on the Post-Graduate Work Permit but it expires March 27. Our plan is to go visit his family in Boston for Easter (leaving March 24) and return to Toronto on March 27 and switch his status to...
