Hey. Congratulations. No, they will not inform you. Thew will just send your passport back right away. The same day or next day. Keep checking UPS tracking number. You will see when it gets active and then just wait for your passport to arrive.

No you don't have to have USA Visa. If you do not have USA Visa then USA border officer will escort you around the corner back to the Canada border. They regularly have people who come from canada just to change status. Anyhow, it is always better to have USA Visa if you are not from Visa...
