    Faster Processing for wealthy people?

Agreed. I don't think CIC puts the applications in order of "who has more money". It all depends... And I can tell you from personal experience that our file, although being processed well within the processing time published for Buffalo, was approved later than most of the other people on this...

Leaving and re-entering Canada before PR card arrives?

Thanks for your post rjessome. I am in the exact same situation - landing mid of July but need to travel home to Austria in summer due to some family issues that need to be resolved.

    Landing "Hours"?

    Oh nice, thanks a lot!!!

    Landing "Hours"?

Hi everybody, maybe this is a stupid question, but I have been wondering if one can land at any time at any port of entry (not talking about land, but airports) or if I need to land during the hours when Immigration is open? :) I finally got my passport back from Buffalo yesterday and we are...

Landing with Goods - once again as a PR (after landing on work permit)?

Thanks for sharing that!! ;D I finally sent them an e-mail inquiry but haven't heard back yet. But I guess I won't need that anymore now. I think my passport arrived back today as well, so time to start planning to land :)

"Has your sponsor visited you" question

"Outland" does not necessarily mean that one partner lives abroad. I've been living with my partner IN Canada since more than 2 years, but we applied outland because it's faster (you have the choice). And since we have always lived in the same city (and then later in the same apartment), we...

    A question about support letters

There is no specific way to do this/no official way. I just made a small note on the letter saying who translated it (in our case me), and the date. I would assume that should be good enough.

    A question about support letters

I would say it depends how many of these letters you have to translate. I translated 2 support letters myself (my mom's and my friend's), the rest of them were in English. If the minority of the letters need to be translated you should be fine if you get your friend to translate them, if most of...

"Has your sponsor visited you" question

I see your point chelley. I think we just disagree on why Immigration put that specific question there. Whereas I think it applies primarily to couples having long-distance relationships, you think that it is a general question. I doubt that an application is put on a different stack just...

"Has your sponsor visited you" question

I am not sure if I agree with you chelley. In my eyes waikiki is right about saying "no". If two people live at the same place, why would they visit each other? I am sure CIC is smart enough to figure out that 2 people always living at the same spot don't need to visit each other. This question...

    Alberta Healthcare

It's exactly as Harju said. The only thing you need to prove is that you are a resident of Alberta. You'll need to show your name on a lease, bank account, letters addressed to you or anything that can prove that you live there. I came here on a work permit and had my health care card within a...

    Common-law proof

Yep, it is "notariell beglaubigen" :) For the Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union that is what they do - just sign the form and put a stamp there. For the support letters it depends on the notary public. We had made up a little letter ourselves and sent it to our family. Some of the...

Landing with Goods - once again as a PR (after landing on work permit)?

No, I haven't looked into it yet because I am still waiting for my passport to be returned (it got to Ft Erie on April 18th). As soon as I have it back I'm gonna call CBSA...

    Common-law proof

Go to a different notary public (maybe that one really didn't understand what you were talking about). It definitely does not cost 3000 Euros. I've had my family in Austria get notarized letters of support at a notary public, and there was no problem with it.

    marriage recognized?

To my knowledge you don't need to register your marriage in Canada. If it was legal wherever you got married, it is legal in Canada as well. (I did some research into this since we are going to have a destination wedding)

    Marriage is no joke

That would be true for all religions. I am not aware of a single one where it is "allowed" to deceive or lie, and where would not be held accountable. I am quite sure though that people who do commit marriage fraud are very much aware of the fact that it is not right to do that (not morally and...

    Marriage is no joke

Although I agree in general, I gotta voice my disapproval about this: Not sure what a jawani is, but also a woman 30 years and older can easily find a husband ;D (I'll be 32 at the time of my wedding 8))

    Common law or CEC

I was in the exact same situation (more or less at least) as you a couple of months ago and I found it extremely difficult to decide which route to take. I ended up going with common-law Family Class, but I'm not sure if I would do it again (to be honest, I probably wouldn't). Back then I was...

    Conservative anti-immigrant ad

rob21- where exactly did matthewc say that Conservative Party "does not like immigrants" or "is against all immigrants"? Well, you must not be familiar with some propaganda made by some European political parties then. I have seen way worse in Austria and particularly Switzerland.... I...

IMM 5490 - Date of Introduction

I wouldn't call it an "arranged marriage", but that's just a sidenote..... I would say the date of introduction would be the date she gave you her e-mail address/told you about her. It's not the date when you first met, since this is an additional question in the form.
