how much money should i have for the first year in Canada

Canada can be an extremely expensive country to live in, especially if you live in a large city. If you have your mind set on the greater Toronto area then you're going to need at least $50,000 for a family of 3

    PR card name

No, you don't need to worry. Your COPR, PR card and passport will all be linked via a systematic database, this is what the CBSA Officer looks at when you get to immigration if you leave Canada and return.

    Where to settle in Alberta?

I live in Calgary and yeah, it's cold, in the winter. We've had a particularly bad winter this year, lots of snow and the mercury has barely risen above -5, with the coldest snaps getting to as low as -30. However, Calgary has the benefit over Edmonton of being sheltered by the Rockies, which...

Will I be able to go to Canada?

I guess it depends on what crime you committed. The link below shows the list of crimes you would normally be inadmissible for. If the crime you committed is on the list then you've got your answer. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/conviction.asp Also, you can't just...

    Bringing funds into Canada

I'm pretty sure it'll be tax free, this isn't America, our money is our money. You don't have to return to America to do the bank transfer, the wonders of the Internet has enabled us to do everything digitally these days.

    Bringing funds into Canada

If you became Canadian Permanent Residents in 2014 then you should have no problem obtaining a Canadian bank account and transferring your American funds to a Canadian bank account. You can use your American bank account in Canada but this will incur a charge each time you use it. When you come...

Life in BC without a PR card

Is your questions based on the fact that you have to wait a certain period before the PR card is issued to you? If so it doesn't matter as long as you have your COPR. My COPR was sufficient proof for SIN, Alberta Health Card, bank account etc. I received my PR Card around 8 weeks after landing...

    wedding pictures issue

Print outs are okay for evidence of marriage/relationship. I spent a fortune on printing photographs off at Asda (UK Walmart) only to be told off a contributor on here that I could have simply printed them off on paper from my laptop.

Marijuana and Canadian visa medical exam

With the medical that I did in the UK they give you a sheet saying what you'll be tested for and you sign the bottom to give them authorisation to do so. The blood work all refers to communicable diseases. There is nothing regarding drug use anywhere on the list. Don't worry about it.

    Brief stay after landing

You could always stay in Vancouver, their winters are pretty mild compared to the rest of Canada ;D I'm pretty sure (although not entirely certain) that you can do a 'soft-landing' (I think that's what the kids are calling it) and stay in Canada for a short period and go back to another country...

    Spousal sponsorship

The Principal Applicant i.e. your wife is required to fill out the Immigration Forms, IMM 5669 and IMM 5406 are Immigration Forms. You, as the Sponsor, are required to fill out the Sponsorship Forms. I can't answer your second question, maybe re-post it to General - All Canadian Immigration.

please i need help for deportation

Well here in Calgary we have the Harry Hays building, which is operated by Service Canada and when my wife and I were going through the beginning stages of applying for my permanent residency they offered an absolute ton of advice and even set up a meeting with an Immigration Consultant so...

please i need help for deportation

Can I suggest you take your case to a Service Canada office. If you're the sponsor and the PR hasn't kept up their part of the contract (sorry to put it like that but that's what it is) then Service Canada will tell you what steps to take. If you've sponsored the PR through Spousal Sponsorship...

    work and education history

Yeah you're not supposed to use staples or paperclips, anything metallic basically, it tells you this in the guidance notes. You'll probably have your application returned.

    Spousal sponsorship

Okay, but for the eyes and ears of many people who come to this forum looking for advice, I explained what a TRV is, it's a Temporary Residence Visa and this visa grants you temporary residence in Canada. Everything is up to the Immigration Officer, of course, but I was simply explaining what a...
