Activating PR with only a copy of COPR letter?

Update for anyone interested. We landed at Vancouver International on Sunday afternoon with just a copy of our COPR. We had new copies of passport photos with us (50mmx70mm - as per the new standard for PR). Besides the large line in the immigration office, there were no major issues. The...

Activating PR with only a copy of COPR letter?

Thanks Marlee. We live about 5 hours return trip from the airport so it might be a bit of an ask to get someone to drop it off at the airport. We might try the second option you mentioned and bring along 2 new copies of our passport photos and hopefully they can re-print the COPR and get it...

Activating PR with only a copy of COPR letter?

I received PPR at the end of Dec and COPR in the mail in early Jan. We have been out of the country and going to return to Canada in a week and plan to activate PR on the way back in at Vancouver airport. I have had a friend scan and email the COPR letter to me and plan to use that to activate...

Merry Christmas everyone and congrats to all that received PPR. Been offline for a few days and just checking in. No PPR for us unfortunately. Hopefully something between now and New Years or in the new year. The wait is agonising after watching other peoples come through!

AOR in July, 2015...Guys lets get togeather!!

Just saw on the news that Immigration Canada is looking to settle 10,000 refugees before Christmas. They obviously need residency more than us but I'm not holding my breath to see anything for us July A0R's before Christmas that are stuck in the queue. They may have also reached the quota for...

    Photos With PPR

Pretty sure they need to be less than 6 months old http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf

Congrats buddy. Great news. I'm sure this has been asked before I can't find a recent thread on it when I do a search. How the hell do you talk to someone real on the CIC phone number?? I've tried multiple options but just get the recorded messages and then it hangs up!

Hey thanks for replying. Worst case if we need the original we can enter on a holiday visa, go and get it and then do a border run. I can't see why you would need it, surely all the info would be on file when they look up your UCI. I'm more concerned about not getting PPR or COPR before we are...

Ok, so we are considering taking this risk. We are not due to come back into Canada until the end of Jan. As fast as work goes, I am self employed so can still work remotely for a period outside the country (anything past the end of Jan might be a stretch though). We will be at 5 months on the...

Thanks Andre, I can't see why having a scanned and printed version of COPR would be an issue. Its just a piece of paper that they use to confirm everything in the system (i.e. not an offical visa with photo's etc). We will check just to make sure.

I have heard of people travelling with just COPR and no PR card. I would check with immigration first but I have definitely heard of more than one person doing it.

We are visa exempt (Australian) so only need to send copies of passport and passport photos. Planning on having all that packaged up and left with a friend to mail off once PPR comes through. From what I understand COPR is just a letter that can be scanned in and emailed to us so we use it to...

Thanks Hailmanu, Yeah we are hoping in Jan and everything will work out if I go so we can activate on the way back in. Does anyone know of any other risks leaving the country while waiting for PR (besides loosing the right to work)??

I agree, but this is 30 odd family members. Short term planning I know. Murphy's law is if I stay it will come through a day after the wife and son leave or early Jan and if I go, it won't come through until April 2016! I know its a big risk but I am just trying to dial in all the facts so we...
