After winning the residency obligation appeal, what's next?

@piedpiper You are asking questions to these posts which are dated in 2010 and in another thread dated in 2011. I doubt if these people are still reading this forum.

Reflection concerning validity period of the Canadian permanent resident card. Why not more than 5 years? Some concrete examples from other countries.

The issue of long time required for renewal of PR card is not something which has just come about due to Covid. If you look back in this forum, there have been numerous years when the time taken would go up to even 7 to 8 months. When I was a PR and renewing my card around 2010, the wait time...

2nd wife of a Canadian Citizen, Outside Canada

I have a generalized question. What if a person is from an Arab country where having multiple wives is legal and he applies for PR ? Assuming he fulfils all the other requirements, would his application be rejected due to the fact that bigamy is a criminal offense in Canada ? Or would he get a...

    Long time since first entry

When you come back into Canada and IF... if you are not reported at border, then once you are inside Canada, you are just like any other person who is PR. So as long as you don't contact IRCC for renewing the PR card, there is no one checking to see how many days you have been in Canada or if...

    CIT 0520 E delayed response

Your evidence is now being evaluated and checked. That may need coordination from other government agencies so that will take time. As IRCC has stated before, once an application is not regular, then the exact processing time cannot be given. Just to let you know that my + wife application also...

    PRTD VFS INDIA

Few basics that you should keep in mind. If you got you PR ( even long time ago), and then went back with your parents to India, technically you are still a PR - but in violation of the requirement of living in Canada for 2 years out of 5 rolling years. So 1st important thing to remember is...

    Permanent Residency Obligations

if you apply for PR travel document on 11 August, then they will look back 5 years to 11 Aug 2013. So you have to calculate how many days you were in Canada during 11 Aug 2013 to 11 Aug 2018. Residency appeal allowed: Best time to apply PR card?

The issue is not just leaving and reentering Canada. Each time you reenter , even with the 1 year multiple entry visa which you have, the officer may do a check to see if your are in compliance with residence obligation as of that date of entry. So that's something which you have to keep in mind.

Residency appeal allowed: Best time to apply PR card?

You have mentioned you were issued a 1 year multiple entry visa. So for the next year you should be ok to travel and return using that. But as @canuck78 has mentioned, your residence obligation is a rolling requirement. For eg, as of today 3rd July 2018 it is to be counted back 5 years from...

Entering Canada via Hot air balloon ?

It's funny that people who have PR status ( RO may/may not be fulfilled) trying to figure out how to get back into the country without being detected. Whereas Nigerians / Haitians just walk into the country through the undeclared border points with the US without any hassle.

    Fraud or not?

About checking stamps : No idea what they really do but that's what they are supposed to do. It's similar to when you go for citizenship interview. One person could get an officer who goes through the file very thoroughly including checking of passport stamps whilst another could get an officer...

    Fraud or not?

If I recall correctly, the PRTD form asks you to list all your absences from Canada over the last 5 years from date of application. The officer will probably go through those dates and match with the stamps on the passport.

    Fraud or not?

If your PR card was approved one month ago, it would be based on counting back 5 years from the date you signed in your application. Now if you were in Canada, then your PR obligation is not a problem as you would still be in compliance and you just need to go and pick up your card and show them...

    Fraud or not?

Since CBSA doesn't keep exit records ( at least officially ), the officer reviewing PRTD is going to check dates you have written against the stamps in passport. Based on that there is going to be a discrepancy of 1 year in records. If he/she chooses to use the stamp as the valid date then it...
