Advise for renting for the newcomers

What can you do if a landlord asks for a SIN in the application? I'm finding several rental companies and landlords are doing this... is there anything that could be provided as an alternative to a SIN for a credit check? How would someone politely decline giving a SIN in the application and not...

    Just Landed - Landing Story

:D Haha, I do worry if looking nervous will make them stare even more, which will then make me more nervous, which will then make them come over and question me... though everyone tends to look some degree of nervous when they have to be around the more intimidating looking guards. Then there's...

    Just Landed - Landing Story

The guy was VERY condescending and loud... it was really shocking to me. It felt like I might be deported instead of landed based on how he was acting! Even inside of the office where the immigration desk was had this feeling of being intimidating. The guy at that desk was polite to me, but a...

    Just Landed - Landing Story

Maybe my husband took a road that only staff are supposed to use? :o There wasn't a no entry sign or any signs around for it... unless we missed it in our utter confusion. It was some little alternative short road that curves back to the Canadian side and leads to the border agents. Hope we...

    Just Landed - Landing Story

Me and my husband drove to the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge today to land. My husband is the sponsor and I was the PR applicant. When we arrived we were completely confused about where to go and took a short route to circle back to the Canadian border control lines instead of...

    Landing

I landed today and they only needed my passport and CoPR. They asked for my husband's (sponsor) passport as well for whatever reason.

    Landing

Is there any time limit on the goods to follow list? Like would I be able to bring my items in 5 years or so or would it expire by then?

JUNE 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

I got my CoPR in the mail yesterday and am going to attempt to land tomorrow at the US/Canada land border :) Very excited that this long journey is finally coming to an end!

    Landing

I am going to try landing tomorrow via land border and wanted to know a few things. During landing, will they ask me for an address to send the PR card to, and can I have it sent to a relative? We are moving soon for military work so I need it sent somewhere else and forwarded by relatives to...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I just got my CoPR in the mail today and am going to try to land this Saturday with a flagpole landing :D My question is, what do I need to bring with me for my landing? Are there some "goods/goods to follow" related forms I can fill out in advance? And will there be an address form I can...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I have two questions... what do they send the CoPR in for USA applicants who don't send a physical passport? We sent a return envelope in our PPR package but it is not express post and is a standard Canada Post prepaid return envelope (my address is within Canada) so I am wondering if this will...

    PPR to CoPR Timeline

I am living in Canada right now about 1 and a half hours drive away from Ottawa so the mail going to and from my apartment to Ottawa seems to send really fast, which is one thing I am really glad about

Okay, I will keep a look out in the mailbox then, thank you!

    PPR to CoPR Timeline

My PPR items package arrived in Ottawa yesterday. I was wondering what the average amount of time is between sending your PPR items and getting a CoPR back in the mail. I am from the USA and didn't need to send my actual passport so my only concern is the CoPR. Thank you :)

    Conditional PR

I am currently living in Canada with my husband. I'm mailing out my PPR request items in two days and hopefully landing to get my PR soon. My husband and I have been married for 1 year and he is being faced with a job offer from the Canadian Forces which would have him living far away from me...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

What would happen if visitor status expired before landing but after you get DM and instructions? (mine expires April 2nd) Is there an implied status of some sort while waiting for the final steps of PR to finish?

Decision Made is that a yes or a no?

I have the same situation as you do, maledil, and also haven't gotten an email. It seems a lot of people got the DM status recently so it looks likely that it would be good news for us. :)
