Landing question - B4 Form - where to claim gifts?

Thanks for the reply CDNPR2014. I guess that's what he will do. We definitely don't want to run into problems at this point since he's so close to being here. You always help me out with my obscure questions. I really appreciate that you take the time to do that +1 to you.

DAR ES SALAM OUTLAND APPLICANTS 2015

Thanks for the update. I had been wondering how it all worked out for you. Glad it did even if it took longer than you had thought. It's still much better than the people who applied last year or are stuck waiting for interviews. All the best to you and your wife as you start your together in...

Landing question - B4 Form - where to claim gifts?

When my husband lands in a few days he will have in his luggage about $100 of toys he bought for our son as a gift. Should these be included on the B4 (now called bsf186)? The form states that items imported are to "have actually been owned, possessed, and used abroad by me prior to the date of...

    Gifts on B4

When my husband lands he will have about $100 of toys he bought for our son as a gift. Should these be included on the B4 (now called bsf186)? The form states that items imported are to "have actually been owned, possessed, and used abroad by me prior to the date of my arrival in Canada." So...

    Out of Status?

This is one of my biggest frustrations with the system!!! Why deny so many visitor visas because they may overstay and yet there seems to be zero consequences of visa-exempt people overstaying? Either it's wrong and there should be consequences or it's not a big deal so don't deny visitor visas...

applying outland- CIC office asking for prepaid self addressed envelope- HELP!

We had the same issue trying to send a prepaid envelope from Africa to USA. My husband went to several courier companies but was told it is not possible to do prepaid international shipping. We finally got it to work by setting up an online Fed Ex business account, which is free, and linking it...

DAR ES SALAM OUTLAND APPLICANTS 2015

To me it seems like they just realized they made a mistake in sending it to Dar in the first place since Somalia applications are supposed to go to Nairobi.

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

The dates of everything in our notes were wrong including the day, month and year of our marriage! Not sure if it's just Dar that's that incompetent with dates but it's very troubling if that leads to interviews or denials. Good luck with getting your MP to sort it out for you.

    US tax question please help

Thank you so much for confirming. It's so interesting they would use your Canadian SIN on his US taxes. Maybe that's what my husband needs to do. For my taxes in Canada I've done the same as you, filed as married and reported his income. It's a little annoying his income is fully taken into...

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

Using a third party to get notes is only useful if you do not know any Canadian citizens or PRs who can request it on your behalf. This should not be the case for any spousal sponsorship cases as the sponsor must be one of those. Therefore save yourself some money and order directly from the...

    US tax question please help

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply Bcgirl1. You said your husband uses your SIN when he files his American taxes. Just wanted to confirm if it's your social insurance number (SIN) or social security number (SSN) he uses? SSN is for the US and SIN is for Canada normally. I don't have...

    US tax question

Thanks for the reply. I know it's really complicated and likely depends in the circumstances. Just trying to figure out what others have done. In my case I spent less than a month in the USA, have never lived or worked there and don't have a SSN so can't imagine I'd be considered a resident for...

    US tax question

Just wondering if any of the Canadian-US couples on here could advise how the American filed their taxes in the US? Married? Single? Married filing separately? My husband lives in the US (just got his COPR) and I live in Canada, I have never lived in the US. Thank you so much!

    US tax question please help

Thanks very much for trying to help CDNPR2014. I will do that. I understand tax advice questions are hard to answer but was just hoping a few more people would share what they did. Almost every Canadian American couple on this board would have encountered this issue at some point.

    US tax question please help

Thanks for the reply. The form seems to indicate married or single is ok for the subsidy but not married filing separately. Very weird. I think we will have to talk to an accountant although that's an expense we really don't need right now :( Can anyone else chime in on how you filed? Just...

    US tax question please help

Thanks for the info. My husband filed married filing separately. He has not even landed so is not a Canadian PR yet. Do you think he can refile as single even though he already filed as married? I think the issue he is having is they say since he filed married filing separately he not entitled...
