Can my child outside Canada apply for citizenship together with me?

I'm a PR living and working in Canada (Vancouver, BC) and plan to apply for citizenship in a couple of years. My wife who lives and works in Colombia (holds PR but won't apply for Canadian citizenship) is having a baby. The baby will be born in Colombia due to my wife's health conditions, and...

Waiting for PR card, can I get a driver's license?

I am in BC. My PR was approved and I got my eCOPR in Sept 22 (114 days ago). In the meantime, I got my new SIN and applied to renew my MSP and Driver license, both expired now. But both of them only provided me with some kind of 2-month temporary letter while I wait for PR. They both expired...

Why do they ask you to submit your passport for CoPR after PPR?

My wife & I got our PPR email a few days ago. I'm in Canada and she is outside of Canada. We replied to their email with our information and they only sent an online confirmation portal link for me. I promptly got my COPR. My wife is in the middle of traveling to Canada (we already had plans &...

Got the Confirmation Portal email while I was outside Canada, got denied a link, but just traveled to Canada?

I applied through express entry with my wife, she is outside of Canada but has a valid Canada visa, and being fully vaccinated she can enter Canada now. We bought her tickets and prepared for travel. Just when she was preparing to travel we got the "Permanent Residence Confirmation Portal"...

Just got PR Confirmation portal email, but passport expiring soon?

After 18 months of waiting, I finally got the PR Confirmation Portal invitation email. I'm in Canada. However, my current passport expires in 10 months. Does that mean that I can only get at most 10 months of permanent residence? It would be terrible after all of this waiting to get 10 months...

    >>>>>>>>>APRIL 2020 AoR Discussion<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Just wanted to let you know that I finally got the email with the letter saying "your application is approved". Now getting ready to get the COPR. I am CEC inland with dependent (wife) outside Canada. For some reason, they sent us a medical request for her as soon as we bought her plane tickets...

developing multi skills, any negative impact?

What you or I personally think doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is what a prospective employer thinks. If an employer reads a resume that says "network ability" he/she will look for evidence of it, and if the person has never worked in a position where he/she was responsible for a...

developing multi skills, any negative impact?

The only thing that matters to an employer is if you have demonstrated a skill while employed, as in professional paid work, for multiple years. Or if you have a certification, not from online courses but from real proctored exams, like the PMP.

me. I'm going nuts. My work permit expires next month, asked for an extension but that also is silent. I'm gonna get fired at this pace.

Renewed study permit but never renewed my visa. Extend? Restore? or apply from scratch?

Ended up never going, too much risk for a non-resident. Even if rules are written on paper like this, it's the immigration officer at the border who decides ultimately, and there's nothing you can do if that person woke up in a bad mood today. Even more so during the pandemic, it's been crazy...

    >>>>>>>>>APRIL 2020 AoR Discussion<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

It depends on multiple factors, like if the person in question has lived more than 6 months in a "designated country or nation" and if the person intends to work in a role that requires a lot of human interaction (school teachers, nurses, etc.). People like me working on IT don't need to re-do...

PGWP holders: Tomorrow last day to apply for extension

Just a heads-up to anyone that is currently on a PGWP that is about to expire (in the following 90 days) or that recently expired. Due to COVID-19, you may be eligible to apply for a one-time open work permit of up to 18 months if you apply online by July 27, 2021. Just did the whole thing in...

PGWP expiring in less than 3 months, PR is late, losing job

@soccer_007 Thank you! Just submitted it. I had no idea about this (which surprises me, as I do my best to stay on top of these kind of news). Maybe you saved a comrade's career today.

PGWP expiring in less than 3 months, PR is late, losing job

I'm in Vancouver, currently employed in IT in a leadership position in a mid-sized company. Applied to PR through express entry 15 months ago, stuck as everyone else. I'm a CEC currently in Canada, applied with my wife who is outside Canada. In less than 3 months, my PGWP will expire and I will...

Why it takes significant time to find a proper job

Study in Canada something that has co-op or other work experience period. That's where Canadians fresh out of school get their experience from. No one will doubt your experience if you worked in Microsoft in an African country, but if you worked at "Random Company Inc." in the city of...

Last time I called the agent told me I met all requirements and to expect the COPR in 3-4 weeks. That happened last December. They lie to get rid of us for a while.

I'm on the same boat, CEC inland, dependent outland, no progress. I don't think we're going to get any priority until our dependents can travel to Canada. We're waiting for the government hotel requirement to stop or for my dependent to get fully vaccinated to enter.

What do Canadian women think of flattery?

I made this post with a genuine interest in learning and improving and was met with aggressiveness, so I'm sorry to be at the limit of the empathy and gratefulness I can feel for those who dared to answer this post. Both responses are full of assumptions on who I am and what I know, which...

What do Canadian women think of flattery?

I think it's a very nordic rich-country way of thinking and I don't think it's a bad thing. I've had women from other countries actually comment on how they expected me to be more of a gentleman after I got used to Canadian culture and lost some habits, so I know some of them like being treated...
