    For anyone wondering, I was able to apply for and get a TRV from my home country, with the PGWP I already had through flagpoling (under "returning worker" status). The TRV application was infact processed within 2 working days.

    I saw this happen with someone. You have to absolutely take the letter of degree confirmation and transcript. They want to see the official duration of your program AND make sure you actually attended through those years. Their reasoning was you could have got a study permit for x years but...

    You'll be on implied status even if your SP expires (as long as you're in Canada) -- that's legal status to continue/start a job. I don't think there is any other way out. Either gotta wait it out for the 96 days or do it through a flagpole.

    No they didn't issue a TRV. My TRV and SP expire on the same day (less than a month that point). I have to apply for a new TRV. @krush2015: Yes I did, had a pending application with CIC. They didn't bother asking anything about it.

    I had a valid TRV/SP on reentry. I'm not a lawyer (so take this with a grain of salt) but the law states that: Which seems to indicate that TRV is not needed as long as you have valid status.
