I think that is a coincidence. CIC definitely recognizes couples without children, for both married and common-law couples. Couples with children are not subject to conditional PR, but the application processing should be the same.

If you yourself were sponsored, you have to wait 5 years after becoming PR until you can sponsor your spouse. I'm not sure if there's a wait time of you became PR through some other means.

So you'll be looking at 26 months maximum. 80% of applications will be processed in under that 26 months so hopefully yours is part of that 80% and doesn't take long! Good luck!

Depends on where the sponsored person is from. Keep an eye out for Sponsorship Approval, which takes about 60 days. After that, it can be a few months to two years, depending on if the application is inland/outland and what country the principal applicant is from.
