    Generic Application

You have to be in status to apply for PR. You need to get a visitor, work, or study permit asap

    Organizing application package

Ultimately it doesn't really matter, as long as it's all there and neat. The officer who looks at your application will pull it all apart anyway.

Form 5481 box "Every other family member..." do I answer this?

Undertakings means other people you have sponsored or co-signed for. That should be no one. List your daughter for 6b. Your partner is on the Generic Application form so you don't need to put them there.

Really confused - beginning application questions

If you are in Canada, use your Canadian address. For question 12, put the address of anywhere you've lived other than Canada and your country of citizenship. Write N/A if you've never lived anywhere else. For your occupation you can put unemployed. What is your status in Canada? Do you have a...

    Supporting Documents - Family Class

Yes, send some snips from here and there throughout your relationship. Too many pages and it will get tossed out and never looked at

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Don't worry. They have 43 days to do sponsorship approval. If after 43 days you haven't heard, send an inquiry.

    Just curious

I think that is a coincidence. CIC definitely recognizes couples without children, for both married and common-law couples. Couples with children are not subject to conditional PR, but the application processing should be the same.

Help in filling out Sponsor Questionnaire

    1. Yes, you have lived in countries other than Canada. List each country, the address you lived at, and the period of your stay. 2. I'm unsure about this one. I don't know if step-children count. Maybe someone else can answer this. 3. Yes, list all the people you are living with and their...

    Spousal Sponsorship while in Canada

Yes, put everyone who you live with. I believe there's a line to put their relation to you, so you can indicate which is your partner and which are your friends/housemates.

Outland applicants live within Canada with common law partner/spouse are here!

Outland is your best bet. Processing time for the Philippines is 13 months outland or 26 months inland. Yes, you will need to apply to extend your visitor visa. Make sure you apply before your current visa expires, or you'll be out of status. But as long as your extension application is sent in...

Common Law Partners - with a roommate?

Thanks Canuck! Do you know this for sure from experience or are you assuming because there's nothing on the CIC website about it?

    When to apply spouse sponsorship

If you yourself were sponsored, you have to wait 5 years after becoming PR until you can sponsor your spouse. I'm not sure if there's a wait time of you became PR through some other means.

    received a file number

So you'll be looking at 26 months maximum. 80% of applications will be processed in under that 26 months so hopefully yours is part of that 80% and doesn't take long! Good luck!

    received a file number

Depends on where the sponsored person is from. Keep an eye out for Sponsorship Approval, which takes about 60 days. After that, it can be a few months to two years, depending on if the application is inland/outland and what country the principal applicant is from.

    Question on IMM5540E

It doesn't say on the guide, so it probably doesn't matter that much. I would put after taxes, because it's the income you actually have to support yourself/your partner

Common Law Partners - with a roommate?

Hey everyone quick question. My American partner will be moving to Canada soon. We will be living together in a two bedroom apartment, so obviously we'll be sharing one room. We are also thinking of having a roommate, to help with the finances. One of our close friends will be living in the...

Sponsorship but I found out I'm pregnant

Nope shouldn't be an issue. If you give birth while the application is still processing you'll need to update CIC with a dependent child on your application, but nothing changes while you're only pregnant. Congratulations, by the way!

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Sometimes they do not send AOR. If you have not received SA and have been waiting longer than the SA time (I think it's currently 39 days), you should send a case inquiry o call them, they'll let you know what's going on.

    Spousal sponsorship

Why are you doing conjugal? Unless you and your partner are legally unable to live together or get married, your application will be denied. You can add captions on the back if you want. Many people put photos in a Word document with captions underneath, which seems to work well. As far as I...
