Masters degree from university has an upperhand when compared to diploma from college.Getting a job depends on personal skill. Tuition fees for universities and college are almost same.So,from my point of view its better to apply for an university. :)

I am also applying to UBC for MASc in mechanical engineering.Your GPA is good and you have great chance of getting into UBC. Remember you must find a supervisor for MASc program.Finding a supervisor is the toughest part.If you have a supervisor then your chances of acceptance is high. Good luck!
