Thats a great thing to hear, I donot know why the bls website document checklist mentions to send original passport and citizenship certificate in the mail.

Can anybody advice, how do I avoid sending original passport and citizenship certificate for applying OCI. Do they allow walk in and return the originals after checking it?

Yes I did with the agent during the ceremony. If you have proofs for your urgency, you will be given a pickup option, they will also give an option to reschedule but nothing forced.

Yes, the fastest way would be to request pick up of certificate with the agent, during the ceremony. Certificate will be available for pick up next business day. Do not request urgent mailing of certificate, as it will take 2 weeks to arrive (Montreal office).
