Canadian passport for a child problems

I need to apply for a passport for my 5 year old daughter who was born in Japan, and while we have a guarantor, references, citizenship certificate, we have an issue with proof of parentage. The CIC website says to provide a long form birth certificate (doesn't qualify, as she was born abroad)...

    Child Tax Benefit confusion

I returned to Canada on March 31st this year. My wife became a permanent resident of Canada on April 28th this year. We're working out how to get child tax benefits. Of course, we have to fill out the RC66 form. But since we are both new/returned residents of Canada, we need to fill out an...

Unknown phone call about my wife's permanent residency

That's what I was suspecting. If it's really important, they'd correspond by mail, I would imagine.

Unknown phone call about my wife's permanent residency

My wife officially landed last week, and is now a permanent resident. She's got her social insurance number sorted out, as well as her health insurance. Everything seems to be done. However, we got a phone call asking her to call a 1-800 number. My mom answered the phone, and it was only a...

CIC will not deliver my wife's decision package to Canada

We went to the MP's office. They can't see us until Monday, which is only 5 days before the deadline for landing. Everyone we know in Japan will be working and unable to pick up the package. The COPR validity date is exactly 1 year after her medical exam, for what it's worth.

Good to know she doesn't have to send her passport. We did update CIC with our Canadian address.

CIC will not deliver my wife's decision package to Canada

Hi, we have a bit of a problem. My wife's PR decision was made this week, and they're ready to send the decision package to her. However, we are no longer in Japan, and the Manila office says they won't send it to Canada, where we are now. We were told to contact the Canada Visa Application...

    MAY 2015 Spouse Application OUTLAND

Starting to wonder how long our status will be updated. My wife and I live in Japan, and the Manila office has received all the applications, medical is done and received, police background check done, etc. They sent us a letter on August 27 to request more information about my (I'm the sponsor)...

Evidence of sponsor living in Canada

I should also mention that I told them specifically which school I want my daughter to go to.

Evidence of sponsor living in Canada

Nothing from possible employers. It's still quite a ways off. I have a daughter, and I did mention in the application that we will be looking into Kindergarten for her. I know the deadline for that is April 15, and I have said that we will be doing that as soon as we arrive. I've asked my...

Evidence of sponsor living in Canada

Hi, I'm sponsoring my wife for a family class visa, and we both live in Japan at the moment. I have passed the sponsorship qualification stage of the application, and it's now moved on to the Manila office for my wife's application to be processed. That occured this week. Within 3 days of being...

    Spousal sponsorship

Thank you very much. And I can get the translation certified at the embassy, right? One more thing I forgot to mention. It doesn't say anywhere about certified true copy for documents that are already in English, such as my passport or birth certificate. Do we need to have the photocopies...

Applying outland from Japan, affidavit for translation

Thanks. The translator apparently does translations for immigration purposes, and they do provide a document that is signed and dated. Others who have used them didn't get an affidavit, though, and they were successful in obtaining a visa. The country specific information doesn't mention...

    Spousal sponsorship

The Guide 3900 page says this: Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by: the English or French translation; and an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and a certified copy of the original document. Now, does this mean that we have to...

Applying outland from Japan, affidavit for translation

My wife and I both live in Japan at the moment, and we have a daughter together (she has Canadian and Japanese citizenship). We're going through the application for a family class visa for my wife, and we've come up against some challenges. The biggest one is how we're supposed to get an...
