Hi wonnie; I think it's better to wait for them to ask you to redo your medical exam. I read somewhere that they sometimes extend the validity of your medical exam. Plus, it'll save you money.

May 2014 applicant here. April 13 - CEM called requesting to go to CEM on April 16 for visa stamping. Told me to bring my passport (since I didnt get any PPR thru mail/email). April 16 - Brought my passport to CEM then got it back by the end of the day with visa attached. (Visa valid til May...

Thanks! Your wife probably got her visa too. Hubby said it wasnt that bad. He was there early for his 8am appt. Filled out some forms. They said they cant wait inside the embassy and asked him to go back to cem at 3pm for the release of his passport with visa.

Tj777; You have to have a certificate for your change of name here in Canada. Then you can renew your PR card with the new last name. Thats what I did. (:
