Don't panic, you are still within the 12 months processing time. You should only get worried if you don't hear from IRCC after January 2019. For now, you are fine :)

Ensure that you guys go with the originals of all the supporting documents (prove of Language, two pieces of IDs etc.) that was submitted with your application package. The first thing the citizenship officer will tell you during the course of the interview will be what you individually scored...

Nope, not mandatory, I never received any request to do a fingerprint and I got my Test Invite last week after I had been in process (IP) since April.

All I can advice is, sending them a web form application status update request from time to time (once every two weeks or so) does help, in my view it pokes whomever is handling the file.

I received my Test Invite yesterday evening and it's on the 6th of next month. Please update.
