    November 2021 - Citizenship applications

I got my notification for the oath ceremony today - it will be via Zoom on November 22nd. The tracker also shows a ceremony for Nov 17th, but I assume that's an error, as the email attachment lists the date as the 22nd, For me, it's just been a waiting game - no test because I'm over 55, and...

    UPFRONT MEDICAL - NEED ADVICE

If it expires in June they are going to make you take another medical exam anyway. It's better to just do a new one now - then it will be good for a full year and you shouldn't have to worry about doing another one, which could cause delays to your file.

    CPP-Ottawa

It was calendar, but as with all things CIC and two postal services, just because mine took 10 doesn't mean that everyone's will. At one point it seemed like they were going out in batches maybe a couple of times a week, so I could have just hit the right timing of a batch going out...

Pre-landing and post landing checklist to share

I didn't see one in Ottawa, but I wasn't really looking either since I didn't want to do another stop after immigration and customs. But regardless it's no big deal...I went in the next day to a Service Canada office in my town and took care of it.

    CPP-Ottawa

I never received any other communication and I don't think most people do. Nor did I ever see another line in ECAS. And I'd say next week sounds about right for arrival in the mail...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Yes, you need to file in the U.S. He won't be double taxed since there are credits for overseas tax payments that should offset whatever he would owe in U.S. taxes. But filing is important. I don't know of a specific website, but do a google search and some good info comes up.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I landed yesterday! Flew in from California to Ottawa...the only thing that made it take longer than I thought it would was that a couple of other international flights came in at the same time so I had to wait awhile to get through customs since they only had one agent on duty doing secondary...

    common law vs marriage stats?

And we were married (I'm American), I applied 2 1/2 weeks after you, yet mine took 9 months. Yours was incredibly fast, as were a small number of other people that applied in early March. There really is no rhyme or reason to it...

    Bringing Money to Canada

I wired just under $10K CAD yesterday to Canada from the U.S. It took about 10 minutes at my bank in the U.S., sent it to my wife's account in Canada (my name is not on the account at all) and it was all super easy. Showed up in my wife's account today. There is a provision (and I think this is...

    STILL NO DECISION

That's great. A number of folks here have been doing our best to give her moral support; hopefully the MP will be responsive and can help push things along. And it's good to know that CIC didn't make that mistake with yet another person, as rough as it must be for the two of you.

Short Landing in Toronto to activate PR

Sure, that would work as long as the spouse is coming back to re-settle in Canada too. You raised a point I hadn't really thought about, but in the case of the original poster, it sounds like both are living outside of Canada right now, he would land, then they will both return from (sounds...
