Yeah guess it's the "luck of the draw" but there are a few n the Facebook group who have received before AIP and they were out of status at time of initial application. It's truly frustrating that the systems within CIC are so crappy. Many "mistakes"... It's a broken system...

Yeah I haven't really seen anyone granted the OWP on the pilot that were out of status I would love to speak to any of them and hear what they did. It's really difficult without it - our lives are literally on pause.

Yeah it's been a rough ride with immigration! And not being able to work has just made it even worse! I wouldn't wish this process on my worst enemy!

Thank you for the response! I do not qualify for the pilot program because I was 11 days out of status and didn't realize it so we didn't renew because we thought that implied status counts as well! Anyways... So if I understand correctly you do get your own as soon as AIP is confirmed? I'm not...

It's so exciting to hear people getting their AIP's, and that are working on apps from 2014!!!! Congratulations you guys!!! I have a question though... Once you get your AIP do they send your open work permit, and can you apply for OHIP?

So there is no other way to restore my status before then?

Does it help getting your MP involved?

So... our situation is that we applied in May 2014 - two months after we got married... couldn't get the OWP under the pilot program due to me being a few days out of status-we didnt even realise that we were out of status and would have renewed it if we had known...anyways long story short...

Yeah Im not sure I understand what you are saying? you saying to have your application expedited you should want the CBSA to remove you from Canada? why would you want that?? ???

We just got some devastating news! After a 10th call to cic we finally got an agent that looked into our file and apparently I was out of status when our app was received. We talked to the agent and she said the note on my file said that I have been out of status for 11 days but we had thought...

Congrats on getting your owp. We applied in May and have yet to receive our owp. Can you tell me what did you send with your application? Did you call anyone at cic?? I'm so stressed out we really need this owp and it's just so frustrating not knowing the method they are applying to do this.
