Every MP has a constituency office in their riding. To find out who your Member of Parliament is, you will need your home postal code. Follow the link below. Then enter your postal code into the white box near the top-right corner of the page, where it says “Find MP”...

Any 2015 applicants still waiting should really be contacting their local MP's office to follow up.

There is no template - when you call your local MPs office, they will set up an appointment for you to come in with all your details (File number, etc) and then they will follow up with CIC on your behalf. You will need to show photo ID (driver's licence for example) and sign a form giving...

Medicals are valid for one year - did you receive an extension? I would suggest calling your local MPs office and asking for assistance.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Regarding linking applications - I had a similar issue, until I found these instructions: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1226&top=23 The main point that helped me was "If you are applying for family sponsorship, enter the number of family members, including the primary...

Am I right in my conclusion that those whose applications are being processed in Ottawa receive their Passport Request a week to 10 days after the background check starts - while those at NDVO have a much longer wait? Does anybody have any thoughts on this - and suggestions?

Previously been determined that we don't really know what time packages were received by CIC - timings reported by the courier companies do not appear to be accurate. Last year I had an earlier courier reported time than others whose applications were accepted in the 5000 cap; but mine was not.

Went to read the thread - you're right, she did have an NOA for 2010 but did not meet the limit. Still, the CIC agent advised her not to withdraw and we don't really know how the officer who reviewed her application would have dealt with it, given that she was accepted in the cap and she...

How was it a complete application when it was missing one year's NOA - it was just an error in CIC review to accept the application as completed.

We still don't know how CIC will deal with those they accepted in the Cap. Probably depends on the severity of the error. In Nina's case, she did not qualify for 2014 applicants, so she was wise to withdraw. But for a photocopy of an NOA instead of the original - the rule was not exactly...

See article in the Toronto Star today http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2015/02/06/immigration-program-for-parents-discriminatory-federal-court-of-appeal-rules.html. Hopefully this changes CIC's strategy to our benefit.

You are both missing the point. I am not asking to use OHIP. But you cannot buy regular medical insurance in Canada - and that is the issue. Also, how am I different from any other naturalized citizen whose non-Canadian born parents are already here and using healthcare and getting social...

Have you experienced paying out of pocket for medical costs? It can be a major expense if you don't want your parent to face health issues alone in their home country. The current insurance for Super Visa parents is pretty much useless - you pay high rates for emergency care that you will...

Absolutely agree with you. Parents on 'super visa' who need non-emergency medical care are treated as 'international patients' - you have to pay up front and appointments are delayed because OHIP patients take precedence. Some doctors even insist on cash payments. If Super Visa is the only...
