    My emotions

So...what's your answer to this, Depenabill: Why is the IRCC still checking for passport stamps when the majority of countries (including Canada and the US) don't use stamps any longer? Don't you find this procedure antiquated?? In this day of computers and cross jurisdictional co-operation...

Toward Understanding Bill C-6 to Amend Citizenship Act; new 3/5 rule plus

I like the 3/5 rule, but it needs to be worded like this: To apply for Citizenship, please wait 5 years, renew your PR card, and see if you have been in Canada the required amount of days totaling 3 years or more. It would cut down on the amount of apps that become short on days because all...

    Any advice helpful...

My wife was harassed because the CBP officer felt her passport pic didn't look like her....even though the passport was only 2 months old...go figure. Only when I answered questions about her in rapid fire succession did he let us in "despite his better/professional judgement" He also stated...

    Any advice helpful...

So..I became a citizen last December of 2015 and now have my Canadian Passport. I am now a Dual National (US and Canada) and my wife is Strictly Canadian. We plan to travel this summer by car to the US. I fully understand that I will need to present to CBP my US passport when entering the...

Is record of landing still valid after obtaining Canadian citizenship?

I was told at my ceremony to keep it - apparently you will need it for Canadian old age stuff.

    passport application urgent!!!!

I applied in person at a Passport Canada office. My wife was my Guarantor and went with me. The processor asked both of us some questions, scanned my citizenship document, and off we went home. It arrived one week later, by registered mail. A full blown Canadian by the end of the calendar year.

PR crossed the US/Canada land border and the passport was not stamped upon entry

Well...it delayed my case for a month. I was a PR from the US. I only traveled to the US once in my app period - no stamps from either side. When interviewed after my test, the Citizenship Office nearly had a fit about no stamps in my passport. When I supplied to her my CBSA report I had...

    Feb 2015 citizenship applicants

I am now done as of Dec 3rd. I took my oath along with 100 other applicants in The Art Gallery. I also saw this: Before they asked us to stand for the oath, an applicant had a very fussy child and had to leave temporarily to quiet the child down. She was still not at her seat when the oath was...

Thats what I thought, Carson. I, myself, am not under any prohibitions, but it seemed interesting that they would omit some wording on a document for us to read when it needs to be like it says on their website and in the act itself. Also, on their instructions (on their website) it says (when...

    Citizenship test results, Edmonton Office

Carson.. When they asked you to read the prohibitions, did they tell you anything other than "read it and sign"? The page of those prohibitions I got with my oath letter has omissions from the same prohibitions explained on their website and in the actual section itself.

Edmonton Oath ceremonies at the Art Galler of Alberta.

For any of you who have done this...I know where the place is, but where is parking and will they let you inside to wait until they start checking you in? And where will the ceremony be held in there anyway?.. is there a stage or something?

Typo in what came with oath invite?

What I have been told by those in the know....whats on thier website is more accurate, and what applied when you signed your application is what goes. The wording on the extra page may be in reference to just the period of your application from the date of submission to the date of your...

Typo in what came with oath invite?

I guess since no one is commenting on this, what they give us on page 4 is just for the application time (4 years) in question...though the wording will make anyone think twice... I will go into my oath and assume that is the case unless any one here has other observations.

Interesting tidbit here.... I got 4 pages in my oath letter....3 (including what to bring and one page that asks me to look at what circumstances could prohibit me from the oath) which are pretty standard....however....the 4th page had the same circumstances listed on their website (listed on...

    Feb 2015 citizenship applicants

Ding Dong! Edmonton Calling! Ecas was updated on the 19th, Oath notice was sent (according to them) on the 17th, and it looks like (if MapleTree's post is any indication) I should be getting a brown envelope next week. It makes me wonder - in this day and age of electronic correspondence, why...
