HELP! GST re-evaluation after reporting change in marital status to CRA

I understand why they do it, they have no info for current year. Just disagree with the logic - if you decided to pay me some credits today based on what my finances as a single person were in the past, don't take them back based on what my current spouse's finances were as a single person.

HELP! GST re-evaluation after reporting change in marital status to CRA

Not really. It's like them saying: "I see you were poor 2 days ago, here's a little money to offset the cost of gas you buy today." Then I say I got married 1 day ago and they say: "Yeah, about that money we gave you, I see your partner has money too - can you pay it back?" This does not change...

HELP! GST re-evaluation after reporting change in marital status to CRA

I'm not misunderstanding, just disagree with the (lack of) logic. They are saying because I got married in 2016 I am not eligible for GST credits, which are calculated based on income in 2014. "You got married in March 2016, you're not eligible for credits calculated for your income in 2014 and...

HELP! GST re-evaluation after reporting change in marital status to CRA

But... why is our 2014 income combined for the purpose of calculating GST/HST credits? We were not legally a couple back then. Does this mean that anyone that gets married and now has significant family income gets no credits for the previous year, when they were single? I can understand that...

HELP! GST re-evaluation after reporting change in marital status to CRA

@cannuck_in_uk: Correct - I got married in March 2016 :) They paid me some GST/HST credits after March 2016, based on my 2014 & 2015 tax report. Now the CRA sent me a letter/message saying that I need to pay those exact credits back (base year 2014 and 2015). But if the base year is 2014, when...

HELP! GST re-evaluation after reporting change in marital status to CRA

Did you end up getting that return? Had a very similar experience recently, called several times and the agents were useless tits - kept repeating the same sentence, like I don't understand what they are saying. We got married in year X and didn't live together before, now they are trying to...

Am I still on implied status?

Same situation here. CEC application returned, WP expired in the meantime and waiting for an answer on my BOWP. Although, I applied for a visitor permit as soon as I got the PR application returned. When I get the refusal on my BOWP, am I still in implied status because of my visitor permit...

    Somebody knows CEC GAP REACHED?

Looks like I'll be heading home, from the sounds of it... well, can't say I haven't tried, been fighting the Canadian Immi bureaucrats for almost 3 years. I remember them ditching the applications for FSW program because the backlog was measured in YEARS. Talk about waste of taxpayers money. And...

So .. the bank just told me it has NOT been cashed yet. :-\ The bank will give me a call Monday for an update if there is any changes. No idea what is going on with the payment or application at the moment. But trying to stay positive, they still haven't returned my application so that's a good...

I have not made a mistake. Going to the bank right now, with the receipt copy, so they can confirm if it was cashed. Like I said, they couldn't see it in the system yesterday. Will let you guys know what I found out in an hour or so, it's nerve racking for me too.

    CEC October 2014 Applicants

Just checked with my bank today, said they can't see the payment in their system anymore. Seems it has been cashed since there is no option to cancel it anymore (there was before), I didn't have a copy of my bank draft so they couldn't check. Payment was put in on the October 23rd, application...
