Surrendering Indian Passport AFTER 3 years of obtaining citizenship, via mail/post

Hi all, Hoping someone can provide some info here. I'm looking to surrender my Indian Passport via mail/post to the BLS Centre in Toronto, and I acquired citizenship in 2019. My Indian passport has long been expired and I never travelled with it after I got my Canadian citizenship. I know I...

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

Just an update for everyone else following, since my partner hasn't gotten hers and resubmitted in August. Photo resubmitted: August 14 Application status: Submitted PR Card: No update Called IRCC and they said they can't do anything yet. Looks like most people in August already received...

Enter Canada with TRV after receiving COPR

Did you end up figuring out your travel here? My partner is in a similar situation and wants to know if they can travel with their TRV. Waiting for their PR card currently.

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

Honestly you should be set with the info I provided here - but message me on this forum if there's any other questions. I applied 3 weeks before flying (and had to change my flights because it didn't come in time). Expect the processing time to take between 3-4 weeks based on caseload.

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

No worries - I know how stressful these applications can be so happy to help. I'm sure you can get a longer visa duration. In my application I only applied for a month so I got a month (I assumed they would give me more by default). You could list any amount of months you'd like to apply for...

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

I got the most restrictive type of visa lol. They gave me a 1 month visa, single entry only. Which means I could only stay for roughly a month and could only enter the country once during that period. I travelled and I'm back now.

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

This is without surrendering your indian passport (I still have mine). The form asks for a Surrender Certificate but it's not mandatory. When you submit, they'll just tell you that you should surrender it soon or pay a fine, but it's not required to get a Tourist visa (confusing I know, since it...

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

Yeah it's unfortunate they're not allowing e-visas for Canadians, I imagine there's some diplomacy politics involved with that. All in all it should take you 2-3 weeks to get your tourist visa. Triple check your application, the people at BLS only exist to reject your application (80% of the...

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

Hey yeah I did, here's my timeline. My $0.02, if you're travelling in 3 weeks or more, apply for a Tourist visa. If you're travelling in 3 weeks or less, apply for an Entry Visa (you'll need to surrender your Indian passport for this - and you can do it at the same time as the Entry visa...

    OCI process

Do you know what time your passport was dispatched (when did you get a Purlolator tracking code)? Mine says Ready for Dispatch this morning but I haven't gotten a tracking number yet.

    OCI process

Yeah mine was through the Toronto BLS Centre so I'm assuming Consulate General of Toronto too. Still says in transit but I'll keep you posted on the status change and timing (for your reference). Good luck man - this whole process has been so stressful.

Hey just want to give you a heads up - just looked at my application tracking on BLS and it says it's on the way from the Consulate to BLS. Did your status change?

    OCI process

They let her get her passport back? I read on BLS that you need to do an application to withdraw your visa application to get your passport back. Need to book an appointment etc, and then wait 24-48 hours for BLS to process.

    OCI process

Still in the same boat - it's been 14 days for me so far with no response. Same 'Processing at Consulate General'. 200 days seems insane? I have other travel plans later this year and the embassy can't hold my Canadian Passport hostage for that long. Website says 30 days minimum for processing.

Yeah I tried calling their hotline and got nowhere. Opened a ticket and they closed the ticket and gave me a boilerplate reply. Super frustrating.

Bummer - does your status still say 'Processing at Consulate General'?

    OCI process

Yeah they mentioned it processes faster (they told me this when I was there), but by then didn't have an Entry Visa application and couldn't lose my spot (also needed to surrender my Indian passport first). Noted for next time though

Applying for Indian Tourist Visa on a Canadian PP, without surrendering Indian PP

Update: I was able to apply without a surrender certificate. It's not needed for a tourist visa; but they advise you to surrender it as soon as possible.

FYI - for anyone applying for a Tourist Visa as a Canadian; here's my experience: Feb 16: Submitted application in-person Feb 28: Status on BLS website still says 'Processing at Consulate General'; It's been like this for 2 weeks Is there a place to track the application other than BLS'...
