This a very important query. I suggest that you raise CSE ASAP. It'd been better if your spouse had his passport renewed before getting PPR. Anyway, I think it's best to have the PP renewed before traveling because of the 6 months time constraints. You should also inform CIC accordingly as well...

Raised CSE 3 days ago. Very tensed. ECAS went to decision made 5 weeks ago. Yet no sign of PPR.
