Yes Salary should be as per the Standard for NOC code chosen... People gets mail to explain any anomalies in that... You should be ready with your proper explanation to convince VO in that case with proper proof

My Passports Reached CPC-Ottawa for stamping. Waitng for its return now with PR visa stamped.

Try contacting cic sydney with detail explanation of the scenario. This has happend earlier and people managed to update their payment info even if AOR is not received. But this is not having any gurrenty of success...but worth of a try...in the mean time be prepared for a second application...
