Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

Then how do we explain those on here who have rec'd OHIP based on their CIC eligibility date? Before landing. She's been here since January, was likely found eligible by CIC to be a PR in May (while she was living here).

US Car Export/Import - Anyone used AESDirect themselves?

Look at the RIV site for conditions on cars being brought to Canada. You can't just bring any car into the country. Well, you can bring most cars, but getting them on the road is a separate issue. The RIV site is a good place to start for specific vehicle questions.

Problems attempting to apply for OHIP while waiting on inland PR visa.

Nevermind, I just found it - as of 4/15/2015 she hadn't passed - I'm certain CIC was waiting for her FBI background check before they did any heavy lifting. Thanks. (We ran into issues getting her FBI check - they won't let your check get forwarded int he mail and that cost us a few weeks)

Problems attempting to apply for OHIP while waiting on inland PR visa.

I have my wife's GCMS notes as of April 15th. Any idea of what to look for in terms of eligibility assessment? It's 30 pages long...does it literally say "Eligibility Assessment....PASSED" or similar?

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

I also just read this on this page: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/ohip/ohipfaq_mn.aspx If you are applying for Ontario health insurance coverage as an Applicant for Permanent Residence, you are required to present written confirmation from Citizenship and Immigration Canada...

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

Ok, so let me get this straight, because I just got off the phone with a somewhat annoyed Service Ontario employee. Backstory: Wife has been a resident in Ontario on a VR since Jan 30, 2015. Got her driver's license on April 14, 2015 Rec'd CoPR on July 28, 2015, but applied on Dec 2, 2014...

    DECEMBER 2014 - OUTLAND Applicants

Finally - decision made. With a few glitches in our FBI paperwork, my wife's application wasn't technically 'started' until June 3rd, although there was activity on her account since the initial rec'd date back in December. I'm guessing they did what they could with what they had (minus the...

RIV "Inspection" (Canadian Tire / Ontario)

$53? What did you register, a moped? Hang onto that as long as you can. Why can't you use your stamped Form 1 to register your car? That's what I did. The inspector at Canadian Tire stamped my form, and I used that to register. Yes, my U.S. carrier FINALLY told me (after may agent told me...

US Car Export/Import - Anyone used AESDirect themselves?

I've seen companies that will upload to AES Direct for anywhere from $45 - $65USD. I took one look at the AES Direct manual and said "NO WAY." And I don't recall if I've seen anyone on the forum learn/do it on their own. I can see why someone might want to tackle it though. For about 30...

Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

Just sent you a PM, but for those interested, my K22 section was grayed out (I filled out my B4E in Adobe). So it wasn't needed.

RIV "Inspection" (Canadian Tire / Ontario)

What state are you coming from? You can always renew your registration and then ask for a pro-rated refund on it once you get settled in Canada. Most states do that as far as I know. I moved from NC and did that. That stuff is handled at the county level where I lived and they send out checks...

"To import goods duty- and tax-free, Settlers must have owned, possessed and used the goods prior to their arrival in Canada and Former Residents must have owned, possessed and used the goods for at least six months before returning to resume residence." Sorry - I hit POST too soon. Read the...

Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

It depends. I owned my car for 4 weeks - no tax or duty. "Ownership, possession and use requirements To import goods duty- and tax-free, Settlers must have owned, possessed and used the goods prior to their arrival in Canada and Former Residents must have owned, possessed and used the goods...

Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

If you worked, you filed taxes. Use IRS return abstracts for those two years. Passport stamps would likely help, but I'd gather a bit more proof - bank statements, rental agreements, etc. I'm sorry if you mentioned it before, but are you a Canadian citizen? Also - living in the U.S. for that...

Moving to Ontario, driving related question

I'm pretty sure you'll be doing graduated licensing. I'm so, so sorry. Lots of resources online to help you, or stop by your local DriveTest facility (when you can) to be certain.

Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

I listed clothing in groups+value (mine + family members) and then an overall value of all the clothing. I made my own spreadsheets to submit to CBSA. They stamped them as I passed through. If you haven't heard, they were the best the CBSA officer I dealt with had ever seen. Ever. If you were...

Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

CBP export office is not open 24x7 like CBSA is. Check the CBP export office hours online. If you're asking me when the best time is to conveniently forget to declare goods at the border, I'm sorry - I'm not about that. You're on your own.

Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

ALSO - LOTS of construction on the roads leading to the U.S. border at Lewiston, NY right now (Late May, 2015). Please be careful (on the U.S. side). I had someone SLAM on the brakes right in front of me this weekend because they didn't know what they were doing. While it would certainly lower...
