    So you are saying that the review officer is going to go by the PCC for all such offences if it's considered a criminal offence in one's country? No additional checks done by cic? I know for a fact that Indian PCC does not list DUI violations even if it is present for an applicant...

    But this article in the cic website suggests that the review officers consider DUI to figure among criminal inadmissability irrespective of the laws of the applicant's country: www . cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/conviction.asp

    Thanks for your reply. But are you sure that gifts are considered legitimate for settlement funds for Canada? Should I send this affidavit along with my application? Also, do you have any canadian immigration site links which talks about gift deeds and their acceptance by review officers?
