    COPR and 5 year question

Hi folks! I'm currently working outside of Canada and just today I received my COPR after submitting my passport and photos a few days ago. My COPR says I have until February 2016 to enter Canada to obtain my PR status. I understand I will have to live at least 2 years in Canada during the 5...

Police certificate Mexico - Constancia de Antecedentes Registrales

That's not true! EE applicant here, two weeks ago I received a message from CIC saying they needed a Mexican police certificate as part of my background check. They linked me to these two webpages: 1. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp 2...

    Dont want work experience points

This is just like my situation only concerning foreign work experience. I've been working for 1 year and a half in Canada, but worked 11 months and some days in my home country a couple of years ago. Since the EE profile doesn't ask for specific dates, it granted me points for foreign work...

Fifth & Sixth Draw. Expecting 320+ score will get ITA

<30 + master's degree + 1 year of foreign work experience + 1 year of Canadian experience + speak English and French.

Fifth & Sixth Draw. Expecting 320+ score will get ITA

498, really? How did you come up with that number? The max (realistic) score for someone with no PNP/LMIA is actually close to 550. I only have one year of Canadian work experience myself and I've got over 500 points.

All PhDs working in US now will get ITA?

Just another case of people from the US thinking they're the centre of the world, apparently. If you think about it, too, a PhD gives you 150 points and a master's gives you 135. Someone with a master's and one year of foreign work experience will always fare better than a PhD with no valid...

People who have in between 500 and 735 points

LMIAs are issued whenever a foreigner has a very specific set of skills that Canadians don't have. Language fluency in a language other than English or French or in both English or French for a profession that requires it could be one such skill.

People who have in between 500 and 735 points

Jobs that require professionals to be bilingual or trilingual are just one example. Try training Canadians to speak several languages with a level of fluency that is needed for certain jobs. It's tough to even get them to speak both their official languages, English and French. Canadian-born...

All PhDs working in US now will get ITA?

TA or RA jobs = not valid for CIC. Also you can't get more than 500 points with no Canadian work experience and no knowledge of French, as I explained above. Not to mention someone who's 32 years old wouldn't get the max number of points for age.

All PhDs working in US now will get ITA?

A PhD from the US as in someone who's never worked in Canada? 600 is the max number of points you can get without a LMIA/PNP. 24 is the number of points you get if you speak perfect French. 600 - 24 = 576. 80 is the max number of points you can get for 5 years of Canadian work experience. 1...

I'm one of them, got a bit over 500 points. BTW there's a spreadsheet and lots of folks from here have filled it in, take a look: http://tinyurl.com/mwstg52.

Fifth & Sixth Draw. Expecting 320+ score will get ITA

Re: Fifth & Sixth Draw. Expecting 320+ will get ITA 320 is too low a score, I for one don't think the score will be lower than 400 the first half of 2015. Reasoning behind that is: There are supposed to be quite a few people with LMIAs applying under the FST category that barely have over...

Foreign work experience question - 11 months?

I have about 1 year and a half of Canadian work experience, so that wouldn't be an issue. But this is foreign work experience and it was only 11 months and 1 day. If I delete that from my profile I'll lose about 30 points and that would be sad. So that's my question.

Foreign work experience question - 11 months?

When filling out the "Work history" section of my EE profile for each job you've had you're only asked to provide month and year of when you started working and month and year of when you finished working for that job. Turns out I have foreign work experience that started on a 31st of May and...
