Over a year Citizenship Certificate processing?

Hi folks, sorry if this has been asked before but my husband applied for an updated Citizenship certificate in February 2020 due to legal name change. We knew it would take a few months and we figured it was fine. Until he learned he needs it up to update his SIN, our mortgage agreement and land...

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

My husband took the oath yesterday and became a Canadian. There was about 94 people in total taking the oath. It was an nice ceremony, emotional even knowing how long it took to reach that day. It was exactly 13 months from the day we mailed his application. Now begins his next step. Applying...

This varies per case. Some get DM right away, others it takes time. My husband wrote the test in November and didn't get DM until 4 1/2 months later in March.

Would any of you know if a foreign working experience would be considered for "urgent processing". I only ask because its now been 16 weeks, or 4 months since my husband wrote the test and were getting concerned that this could take a while. He got a huge opportunity to work in South America...

Calgary. According to the ATIP, the file hasn't even be opened since November 13. Prohibition was the only thing not started since January 8. Everything else said "Passed".

I guess I should have mentioned the case is still "in process". Still no decision yet. :( Can't have an oath without a decision made haha. Also all three of those co-workers I mentioned who wrote the test in December with a oath scheduled in March, are from India.

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

This week marks 12 weeks (or 3 months) since my husband wrote the test. All 3 of our colleagues who wrote the test in December (one sent their application in late June) now have their oaths set. Never imagined it would take 3 months+ for just prohibition? Everything else is cleared. We've...

To my surprise, we received the ATIP early. (It was requested Jan. 8) I wasn't expecting it until next week. -Shows only Prohibition as "Not Started" everything else is "Passed". I take it this the longest of the background checks.

We finally go through yesterday and the lady wouldn't tell us what was holding it up. All she said is "There is no event scheduled until the case processing officer makes a decision on the file, and it is still being worked on. They have until May to complete everything, so be patient." We also...

Anyone have luck with determining the best time to call? I've called 4-5 times this morning, and every time it just says we're busy and it disconnects.

82 days and counting and no update since test. I'm really hoping they aren't doing extra background checks just because of the current political situation with China. My husband has had several extensive background checks in the past 2 years and not a single one of them took longer than a week...

Calgary applicants waiting for oath after test please join

In Calgary, test passed November 8 and nothing since. Said they had to request entry logs because CBSA didn't stamp passport once. 2 months later, and nothing. Still in process. Didn't know it took so long to verify one entrance.

I’d understand if we made frequent trips, but we went on a total of just 3 international trips in last 5 years. Only one of them was when he was a PR. This is basically because of just one missing stamp. Passport was stamped entering Mexico, but not upon reentry to Canada. If I knew just one...

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Husband wrote the test 2 months ago (Nov. 8) and still no response since. They said their might be a small delay as CBSA didn't stamp one entry and they had to request records (or something like that). Still says "In Process". Well we are not too worried, we don't want his citizenship ceremony...

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Man, if I knew a stamp was going to cause such a delay, I would have insisted they stamp his passport. Officer told my husband when he wrote the test last month, that they needed to request entry records from CBSA because they didn't stamp his passport when we returned from Mexico earlier this...

Husband wrote the test today and passed. Officer said they requested entry records because CBSA didn’t stamp his entry when we returned from a vacation, but said it shouldn’t be a problem.

It was via email. Status on ECAS now has a line that says "We sent out an invitation to write the citizenship test on November 8 at this time." We weren't expecting to get the invite itself until sometime in November, so this is a pleasant surprise.
