    > When you land as a PR, all previous visas are cancelled. This is true. Same happened with my OWP, as I was told the day I got my COPR by the CIC agent at my landing. As for leaving and re-entering Canada, any valid passport and your PR card is sufficient. Your PR card negates the need...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I got my new SIN number yesterday at the local Service Canada office (yayyyy!!). Service Ontario was not so kind .... seems I have to go to a full-service Service Ontario centre to get my health card, so tomorrow I will be going to Kingston to get that done. As for non-expiring... I learned...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I am very happy to say --- I have my COPR (I've landed)! The hardest thing yesterday was finding parking. There is a lot at 200 Catherine St, Ottawa, but the lot was full. I found a lot a couple blocks further but it took coin only (no cards) and I didn't have any coin. The lot is right...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

@MilesAway - thanks for replying! @daniellebb - I don't believe you need to be concerned about the medicals. If your dad has his PR, then his obligation is done. I think I am missing something important if there is more to this than that. Such as.... is it that he is done but you've not...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

@MilesAway - Thanks for that info... it is good news that I won't have to wait for the actual card to get my permanent SIN. I won't have to worry about the OWP expiring 30 Sept now as the new SIN will replace that. Do you know if a COPR will allow me to re-enter Canada if I want to drive to...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

Thanks for the kind words and advice! I checked this morning again and now cic.gc.ca says "Decision Made", so I can say I am fully at DM. :) I will make a note to contact my MP if I don't hear anything about an appointment by Labour Day. That's good news that they don't make you leave and...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I hope I have reached DM... the letter seems to say that but the cic.gc.ca site still gives an "In Progress" status for my application. The letter was sent yesterday, and the cic.gc.ca site says the status is updated daily. Forgive me if it seems harsh to have little faith but after CatLady's...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I contacted my MP a week ago and they called Vegreville and Los Angeles (the latter concerning my non-accompanying dependents). Today I got this letter in the mail: August 22, 2016 This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I called CIC today as it is about 1 year to the day since I was informed they started a new background check on me since it was so long since my initial background check, and other than on 17 Dec when I flew back from Philadelphia to Ottawa and the immigration officer there told me my...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I am nearing the end of my 2nd OWP. I entered Canada in April 2010 on a regular work permit and then got my first OWP in October 2012 when I passed phase 1. I thought things would move quickly when I got that. But I had to apply for a renewal in 2014 and got my 2nd OWP then. My current one...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I said 2019 because that is when my youngest non-accompanying child turns 18, and if he follows suit with his older siblings, will refuse the 4th request I will get from CIC to have my children get a medical exam from a CIC-panel physician, and I will be sending in the 4th such Statutory...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

Good news for you! I am sure you'll hear soon about the appointment since you've made it to "Decision Made" status. I just checked CIC online and it still says "In Process". I am almost certain the next time I hear from them will be to request that I go get my 3rd medical exam (coming up on 4...

How soon after medical will I see approved sponsorship

Maybe that is the case for you as they requested you to get a medical exam by a CIC panel physician before and without informing you that you are approved in kind (for phase 1). In my case, the same letter that told me I was approved for phase 1 requested the medical exam.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2012

I believe it didn't help that as each of my two oldest children reached the age of 18 they refused to comply with medical and other requirements. I had to send a statutory declaration for each one, which takes time for them to review and decide. I have favourable decisions on both of them and...

How soon after medical will I see approved sponsorship

Every application is different, and where your application is being processed (are you an inland applicant or outland?) has an impact as there are different timelines based on that and your circumstances. In my case, the completion of phase one was simultaneous with the request for a medical...

Non accompanying children who refused to be examined

Hi mankind45, I have four non-accompanying children. It is good you included your children on the application as you are supposed to. CIC requires medicals for all non-accompanying children, and additional information (e.g., police backgrounds) if they are 18 or over, even if they turn 18...

    Can you marry?

LOL @ canadausa#11 :D I am American and my wife is Canadian. I moved here on a temporary work permit and we married about 7 months later. Then about 4 months after that I applied to CIC for permanent residence under the family class, and it now has been 4 years to the date since I submitted...

    Client ID or Application number

I learned my UCI number when I received notification that I passed phase 1 and they requested me to be examined by a CIC panel physician. Every communication you receive from CIC will provide your UCI number and application number from now on.
