Hi All! I know some provinces in Canada have a waiting period before the Provincial health coverage kicks in. I am in Ontario and my OHIP won't kick in until 2 and a half months from now. I am wondering what health coverage/plans are people using in the meantime? I am looking for an...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Cross-post ...Got my PR visa yesterday. It took 2 emails from me and a call from an MP rep for them to mail the passport back. We put a comlaint in that it was unreasonable for the NYC office to give me 25 days to mail the passport in while having the luxury of 30 business days to mail it...

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

Got my Passport yesterday with a PR Visa! It's not usual, however, for NYC to return so quickly. I did email them twice asking them to send the passport back due in the pre-paid envelope to the upcoming trip and the end of lease on my appartment. It was unreasonable for them to give me 25...

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

Hmmmm. I dont' remember hearing of anyone who has been transferred to Seattle lately. Maybe Seattle does't currently take transfer applications. ....just my guess. But if that's the case, maybe Buffalo thought LA would be the closest location to Seattle.

I hear you abedelia about your passport. Some people on this forum just don't get that some of us have lives and plans. I don't live for the purpose of getting my PPR. ....But the NYC office screwed me over worse than you! They have only given me 30 days to send my passport and by the time I...

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

And the CIC should really state that either personal or corporate account is fine as long as the return envelope is pre-paid and labeled. This "corporate" thing can be very confusing! :-\

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

Hey michaelab, Well, I sent my passport in via FedEx and included a pre-paid labeled FedEx envelope. CIC NYC does say they would only return mail via FedEx if it's pre-paid from a corporate account. But I don't really see a difference between a corporate account and a personal account. The...

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

Oh, that's right! On the PPR letter there should be a bar code sticker. What I would do since you dont' have the stickers is make a copy of the sticker that's on the PPR letter, cut it out, and tape it on the outside of the envelope. The scanner should be able to read it.

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

The letter itself (you need to fill out some portions of it), passport, and 4 Visa photos is all they asked for. Make sure you bring the bar code stickies to put on the envelope.

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

I am in the US. I was running around like a maniac yesterday trying to get everything done: Got my PPR letter in the mail yesterday, panicked, flew back to work (don't have a printer at home) Opened a FedEx account, went to Sears portrait studio (they are open late) to get my Visa photos...

CeeGee, Congrats on the speedy process!!! Wow!! You are right, we shouldn't bug them with emails, but it's so hard to just sit and wait and wait without any news or requests whatsoever. And the fact that you gathered a lot of evidence probably helped. I did not send a lot of evidence with my...

File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

The satellites' processing time is similar to Buffalo. However, I am not sure if they pick up where Buffalo left off, or if they start the process from square one. Does anyone know? And another negative thing I noticed (about NYC office at least) that they do not respond to email. I sent...
