It's been a roller coaster... getting the visa was just the beginning! It's a big adjustment for everyone. Life in Canada is quite different and takes time to adjust. But over all... it's been worth the wait!

Just my two cents... you might want to think about a trip to Havana for 2 reasons. 1) you will NOT be allowed in, and they may contact you at your Canadian contact info, which my not work as well, or cost a lot, in Havana. 2) they have a habit of changes dates, especially at the last minute, so...

We did translate it, as it said anything that was not in English or French needed to be translated, so I don't know if it's not translated, if it's ok.

My husband had his interview a few weeks ago. They did not give him anything back. (we also did not send originals, except police certificate, only certifed copies, with a notarize translation). All pictures and greeting cards were scanned and printed, as we did not want to risk not getting...

The interview is the last last step. Immigration needs to complete all the eligibility, background, medical and security checks. Only once everything is passed will they call for an interview. For us, they called and setup the interview for 1 month away. Then 7 days before the interview, they...

Got AOR from havana sept. 18. So just over 6 months from when it got to havana. Would have been sooner if he didn't have to go for an interview.

It's been 7 months, and ours is still "application received" and we have an interview on March 26, so ECAS is not necessarily the most up to date unfortunately.

My husband also had to go back until his 18th bday, however they did not ask for it. The only way we know was that I ordered the case notes, and saw in the case notes that is was required, so we sent it. The notes were dated Sept 29, and at no point did they ever tell us we needed to send more...

Yes, it is 100% for an interview only.

UPDATE: My husband got the call today for his interview on March 26. It's so far away, but at least we got the call, and things are moving. I wish I could go with him, but the timing won't work. So excited!!

yes, i saw that the medicals were sent to ottawa and my mp confirmed it when he called ottawa last week. I'm pretty happy my mp was willing to do something, however all ottawa can say is we should hear by June because they look at aor date and processing times.
