    Calculating Physical Time

Thank you for the info. I’ll request my records from CBSA and the US. I always use my credit card in the states so I’ll also grab records from the bank. We also have a pass for the payment for crossing the border so I’m guessing that has the dates they pull money from our account each time we...

    Calculating Physical Time

Hello! I have been a PR now since April 2016 (US citizen). I never thought I would apply for Canadian citizenship but now changing my mind, issue is I never kept a travel journal. We live near a border town and cross into the US a lot for shopping (for a few hours) and vacations. How do I...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Do you cross at the bridge or tunnel?? I lived in Windsor while applying for PR and crossed a lot, once I received a VR I finally could cross with ease, it was the best thing I ever did. But that being said I ONLY crossed at the tunnel not the bridge as the agents at the bridge always gave me...

Can I Buy prescription meds via American health insurer in Canadian pharmacy?

Mine paid for them but it was a lot of paperwork. First an Ontario pharmacy won't fill a US prescription, you need a Ontario prescription. I took my US meds to a walk in clinic paid the fee to see a dr and he wrote me a Canada script for my meds. Took the new prescription to the pharmacy here...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I had my new passport ones done at same time as my PR card ones for my app, at Costco if you're a member it was $7.50 per set. But now my passport and PR card are the exact same picture basically I had my passport updated right after I applied.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I renewed mine for the same reason (name change) I made an appointment at the US consulate, had all my paperwork completed before hand, picture in hand, cash for fee and showed up for the appt. the appt took less then an hour, they check all your supporting documents and then hand them back to...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Are you in Canada? I renewed mine last year by going to the US consulate in Toronto and applying, I received my new passport in 9 days without paying for expedited. If you're in the US still you can pay to expedite your passport renewal.

    Waiting for PR CARD - 2015 / 2016

Received my PR card today. Applied August 2015, landed April 10 2016. Did not submit or get request for new pictures, they used the ones I submitted with my original application.

Overpaid - How to request a refund?

No, I think it was right after AOR or SA.

Overpaid - How to request a refund?

We had overpaid by accident and CIC sent us an email letting us know we overpaid and refunded the overage within a few weeks.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

When my now hubby and I started dating over the first summer I came to Toronto and visited him numerous times including a six week stay. I never had any issues over that summer. I made 4 or 5 trips and the trip I stayed 6 weeks I originally was only going to stay 1 week but then changed my...

    Complicated - Sponsoring an American

So hard to say what CIC will say, that would concern me too. I know of one other couple that did this and was approved but this was a few years ago. I would say if you guys ever thought about getting married since common law is "basically" that it may be better to actually get married and then...

COPR - small error on paper

When my COPR came in last month there were quite a few mistakes, including my last name, when I flagpoled CBSA fixed all the mistakes at the time of landing. I think you'll be ok to land with that small mistake! Congrats on COPR!

    Complicated - Sponsoring an American

Agreed!!! A VR gets a bad rap on this forum IMHO but in my case it was great to have! I don't have nexus and when crossing back and forth on my VR I was allowed to say I live in Canada when asked, I was never hassled or brought into secondary once on my VR. When I was given my VR they even...

    Complicated - Sponsoring an American

For sure! I had an issue when my husband, then just my boyfriend, crossed at Niagara. I'm just saying that at the Windsor border I've learned the CBSA agents are very easy going on this, they actually pushed me to get a VR which at the time I thought was a bad thing. It ended up being a great...

    Complicated - Sponsoring an American

In this area it's very common. I learned after we moved here how different CBSA is then when we dealt with them in Toronto at the airport! I was shocked myself but now I meet people all the time dating Americans here and lots have VR's or use nexus to cross daily. That's not saying it will...

    Complicated - Sponsoring an American

Does your boyfriend live near the border you still be crossing at? We live in the Windsor area and crossing a lot is very common as lots of Canadians here date Americans. This border is very good at giving VR's to Americans to cross back and forth. Before I was granted my PR I was given a VR...
