To everyone waiting, hang in there. The immigration journey is the toughest thing I have ever been through but with my husband here with me almost 6 months now, I can't believe how far away that agony of wondering when and waiting for word from Kingston seems. Soon it will be a distant memory...

OMG you are lucky! Hubby goes nuts and comes home saying "$27 for a haircut and shave - what is this all about!!" I laugh. Do you guys have a Jamaican festival/Carnival of sorts in Montreal? I want to surprise him with some type of trip this summer to a place that actually has some type of...

YEAH to those hearing from POS and getting passports returned. Great to see so many are ending this process. basl - apply for the visitor's visa but if denied think of applying for a US visitor's visa as well. The US seems A LOT less strict on the visa front and you and he taking trips to the...

Mrs. Wright - he is happy to stay inside with the minus 28 degree weather - that is for sure! And he can get a new one, but it takes 6 months so we have to wait for his PR card to arrive in the meantime.

Hi Mrs. Wright - the COPR is the two sheets of paper your husband gives to the immigration officer upon landing in Canada. The immigration officer will fill out the details and keep the sheet with the photo attached. The other sheet goes to your husband and he is to protect that with his life...

Ofia - you should harass your MP. Mine immediately found out what the decision was and communicated that to me within the hour (we got decision made before any word from Kingston too). The wait for you is completely inappropriate. You must be going crazy. My heart goes out to you. Good luck:)

I am so sure everything will be perfect Mel! Just keep drinking booze. I put Jamaican rum cream in my coffee this morning (last work day before xmas tradition - not because I am an alcoholic!!) Hubby picked up his PP yesterday (Dec 22) and he flies on Dec 30th. We are having a NYE party at...

Jojrob1 - just an FYI but I had my meat patty taken from me despite the fact it was cooked and declared. I was told - in very specific terms and in secondary inspection - that you cannot trasport meat even if cooked. The only exception is coming from the US - you can take meat back from the US.

I thought of that Mel but he is heading to Halifax via Toronto:) I am going to wait until PP is picked up. He is in Mobay so it could take a few days. But we are sticking with the plan to have him fly on Dec 30th. This gives him time to get everything in order. Your husband is so lucky he is...

hahaha Mel - it is AWESOME to write! I can't believe he is only taking one suitcase - that is impressive. I am probably to blame for the second suitcase - I told him last night I wanted the nice handmade Jamaican pot he has. It makes excellent rice and never seems to stick! MrsK I just got...
