You are a Canadian Citizen, so you can apply for your child. I'm a Canadian, my child is sponsored by me, he landed this summer and I applied back in August. Children do NOT have to meet the residency requirements if one of the parents are already citizens. It's called a non concurrent application.

So the father got his proof of citizenship before the 2009 law change? If so, then the kids born before 2009 are Canadian citizens. The kids born after 2009 are not citizens and need to be sponsored, because they are 2nd generation born abroad.
