What is the "current' average for Chandigarh office applications? I know it says 15 days on the website, but for my in laws it took 8 days and we have applied for my brother in law and it has been 15 days now and no response.

Not true. But if you are using a brand new passport to hide your travel history, then it could cause a problem. If your passport has just renewed, you should send old passport copy and all pages with stamps along.

We have now applied for my brother in law TRV. Applied on 4-May-2015, status is showing as in process.

We applied for my in-laws TRV at Chandigarh office in April 2015 and it took 8 calendar days. They accepted the application.

so it is just a myth that online applications are faster?

Thanks a lot for the comprehensive response. We are going to try again with a stronger application this time. We are also thinking of adding a letter from our MP in Canada and also a letter from local Counsellor in India just to add some more meat to the application.
